Ensuring Chart’s Success…

The Buyer actively champions and drives established materials management strategies to ensure performance objectives are achieved.  Optimize supplier costs, quality and delivery to gain the lowest cost through the supply chain in support of strategic plans.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a strong foundation in supply chain and building collaborative relationships with suppliers to drive cost containment initiatives and programs. The successful candidate will be a nimble learner with the ability to improve quality, cost and delivery.


What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Help develop and implement programs to optimize inventory turns and improve working capital performance
  • Data management - Accuracy and timeliness of all inventory and supplier related data
  • Improve on-time delivery to customers and from vendors
  • Identify and resolve process and system roadblocks in conjunction with manufacturing engineering to improve productivity and throughput
  • Help develop analytical and visual management tools evaluating and communicating progress of productivity improvements and cost reductions
  • Contract negotiation and cost downs with vendors
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and change notices using MRP, reorder points, Kanban and other inventory management strategies
  • Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepare market analysis reports
  • Review purchase orders and contracts for company conformance
  • Assist in the development and implementation of administrative, office and material handling procedures and practices by studying current work flow and sequence of operations
  • Arrange for disposal of surplus materials
  • Partner with Corporate Purchasing to ensure plant and company goals are aligned


    Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • 5 - 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Supply base experience in a progressive organization focused on improvements to quality, cost and delivery
  • Knowledge of accounting and cost systems, including computerized systems (software and hardware)
  • Experience with ISO 9000, Kanban and lean manufacturing environment
  • Solid understanding of all facets of supply chain and materials management
  • JD Edwards experience, a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university
  • CPM, CPSM or CPIM certification desirable
