Ensuring Chart’s Success…

The Vice President of Operations for Chart Distribution & Storage (D&S) Western Hemisphere provides leadership and strategy across 5 manufacturing operations, safety, quality, and operational excellence. The incumbent will determine the overall manufacturing strategy, provide direction, and oversight for the execution of restructuring projects and achievement of operational goals and deliverables.  Success in this role requires leadership across a complex regional, business, and functional matrix.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Partner with Operations to drive improvements in health, safety and environment – Act as Safety steward to lead a sustainable change in the safety culture of the organization.
  • Drive centralized S&OP process for all locations in scope.
  • Develop and lead the manufacturing capabilities roadmap (7-year plan / Vision) to achieve best in class manufacturing capabilities (“Factory of the Future”) focusing on optimization, efficiency, continuous improvement.
  • Introduce life-cycle concepts to the operations as part of 7-year Vision whereas the organization builds capabilities to create and use data and information throughout life cycle of the product to create flexible manufacturing processes that respond rapidly to changes in demand, at low cost to the firm and to the environment.
  • Develop applications of advanced intelligence systems to enable rapid manufacturing of new products, dynamic response to product demand, and real-time optimization of manufacturing production and supply-chain networks.
  • Develop processes that facilitate information flow across all business functions inside the enterprise and manage the connections to suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders outside the enterprise.
  • Review, maintain, control, and report on the financial impact of manufacturing strategy/restructuring programs.
  • Develop and deploy manufacturing work models focusing on scalable lean initiatives, standardized process control, strategy and support for operational excellence.
  • Provide expert knowledge in lean concepts and quality systems to the operations.  Continuously improve knowledge through benchmarking and active participation in industry groups. Create an operational excellence culture across all operations with a focus on continuous improvement. Major KPIs for incumbent are: TRIR, PPM / external defect rate and warranty cost.
  • Partner with Global Sourcing and Supply Chain organization to define and leverage the strategic sourcing and materials models that enhance total customer satisfaction through improved on-time delivery. Ensure collaboration, efficiency, and results between manufacturing operations and the Supply Chain function.
  • Achieve business objectives for material productivity improvement, supplier quality / delivery improvement and new program/product launches.
  • Develop and maintain a quality control program that assures customers receive a quality product, manufactured at a competitive cost; proper purchasing practices, and reliable delivery performance.
  • Develop and implement suitable capital expenditure, cost reduction, and manpower programs.

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

Demonstrated ability in strategic process creation and implementation

Management and development of Operational Excellence function throughout an operation and across an organization

Advanced knowledge of lean manufacturing systems processes, products, and customers

Strong background in goal deployment, strategic planning and building organizational capability.

Technically proficient in all areas of manufacturing management, OpEx, supply chain management, and quality systems

Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional team

Lights-out Manufacturing Expertise and/or

Smart Manufacturing (e.g. Big data processing, advanced robotics, industrial connectivity, advanced manufacturing processes, rapid prototyping, Collaborative VF platforms, advanced HMI, M2M communication)

Your Education Should Be…

MBA or Master's Degree with a major in Business, Engineering or Manufacturing

12 – 15 years of experience managing multi-functions:  Finance, quality, purchasing and manufacturing

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, other related tasks in an office setting
