Ensuring Chart’s Success…

Chart Inc. has an opening for a New Product Development Engineering Manager. Working with teams in Ball Ground, GA and New Prague, MN you’ll provide engineering and technical leadership for the new products being developed within the North American region. (D&S West) Critical success factors for this role includes developing people, enforcing the new product development process, engineering standards, maximizing departmental output and leadership. Individuals interested in this position must demonstrate leadership, be results-driven and display strong collaborative skills.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Lead and mentor a team of designers and engineers for both the tasks at hand as well as for their career development
  • Develop strategies to develop new products and enhance existing products to achieve commercial success.
  • Develops and executes on group project schedules, including prioritizing tasks and allocating resources to maximize return on investment.
  • Facilitate communication with cross-functional partners to integrate new products into production.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to create funnel submissions.
  • Enforce standards for the 5-Phase process.
  • Participate in site management team activities.

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • Experience with a stage gate style process for product development.
  • Ability to take projects from concept and development to approval, review and completion. Proven record of bringing new products to market.
  • Minimum of 7 years previous engineering experience, preferably in cryogenics or pressure vessel related field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with cross functional partners as required. Previous management/leadership experience preferred.
  • Proven success in leading diverse groups of engineers, designers and technicians.
  • General understanding and experience with Quality Systems.
  • General knowledge of pressure vessel codes.
  • General understanding of CAD systems and network management.
  • General knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles including structural, thermodynamics, fluid flow and heat transfer.
  • General knowledge in stainless steel MIG/TIG welding, metal forming and piping assemblies.

Your Education Should Be…

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • MBA preferred

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

  • Frequent standing, sitting, bending, stooping, walking and other related tasks in an office setting
  • Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional heavier lifting
  • Frequent computer work
  • Frequent work in the production floor environment will involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors
  • Working with cryogenic products will involve possible exposure to pressurized gases and extremely low temperatures (-320⁰F)
