Application Engineer

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university preferred

 

Minimum Experience:

  • 5 - 7 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Thermal design, mechanical design, and estimate of air cooled heat exchangers to meet the requirements of customers’ specifications, while maximizing the technology available to create competitive, complete and successful sales proposals that can be administered profitably through the organization.

 

  • Responsible for evaluating customer technical specifications, clarifying requirements with customers and preparing a complete and concise sales proposal outlining any exceptions to requirements and /or suggesting alternate designs
  • Submits proposals within the format and time frame requirements of the customer ensuring proper estimating according to procedures and guidelines as well as proper entry into Smithco’s Air Cool Systems
  • Meets with customers for final clarification or job award, if required
  • Reviews customer purchase order to confirm design, pricing, inspection, submittal, packing, terms and conditions, and freight requirements
  • Responsible for loading the job parameters into the Air Cool System noting special requirements with Project Notes and Special Handling Notes, and insuring job is loaded with correct cost
  • Responsible for the correctness and flow of documentation
  • Conducts prefabrication meetings with customers or third-party inspectors when required
  • Participates in Sales functions including plant tours, customer and sales representatives’ education and entertainment
  • Understanding of ASME, HTRI, API 661
  • Follows Company policies and procedures

  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
