Main purpose of job
As part of the Ventsim team you will be responsible for supporting mines worldwide to help them design and implement a safe, efficient and productive working environment. As such your primary focus will be:
1. Provide our customers with safe, efficient and practical solutions in a timely manner.
2. Guide and advise our local and global team of experienced engineers in carrying out studies, projects and associated services to customers when required
3. Oversee our Howden Ventsim ventilation consulting activities worldwide, including customer proposals, reports, ventilation modelling, and customer communication.
4. Continue to grow our mine ventilation services business.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
Accountabilities
1. Apply accepted practises and techniques of mining ventilation and safety engineering to customer requirements.
2. Design mine ventilation systems that comply with regulations, safety and production requirements.
3. Recommend alterations or installation of mine ventilation works.
4. Provide feedback to the Ventsim software team including feature suggestions.
5. Assist team members to the best of your capabilities.
6. Participate in innovation and research to advance the field of ventilation design and modelling.
7. Propose and apply methods to grow our consulting business.

• Work with a wide range of customers simultaneously in challenging environments in different countries and legislation.
• Collaborate with skilled professionals and application specialists across the Howden group worldwide.
• Guide and mentor others through projects and ensure they are learning as part of the project.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by making sure the work done meets their expectation.
Your Education Should Be…
Essential Skills, knowledge & behaviours
• A bachelor’s degree in mining/mechanical engineering or an equivalent qualification encompassing mine ventilation is essential.
• Demonstrated skills of working in team environments and supervising others.
• Good business communication skills, both written and verbal is required for this role.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Relates well to people at all levels of the organization and with customers; builds constructive and effective relationships; can defuse even high-tension situations comfortably.
• Logical problem-solving skills, outstanding organizational skills and dedication to quality and integrity.
• Proven ability to quickly assess complex issues and identify root causes/key success factors.
• The ability to interact with diverse global cultures and demonstrate effective communication skills with associates, suppliers and customers in a variety of business functions.
• Strong skills in Ventsim DESIGN, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Your Professional Experience Should Be…
Desirable skills, knowledge & behaviors
• A combined 15 years’ experience in mine ventilation including at least 5 years on site and at least 5 years as a consultant.
• Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships at all levels
• Ability to create clear and concise reports
• Capable of compiling, analysing and utilizing data, without becoming lost in the detail
• Ability to multi-task and work in a priority changing environment
• Driven self-starter and autonomous
• Creative thinker
• Ability to find efficient and practical solutions for our customers
