Ensuring Chart’s Success…
Independent, results oriented and self-motivated Mechanical Engineer to provide a variety of Engineering and technical service support activities for LNG Vehicle Fuel System products manufactured by the D&S Division at the Chart–Ball Ground facility.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
- Responsible for product design, documentation and support for LNG vehicle fuel systems.
- Responsible for product structures, bills of material and manufacturing drawings.
- Initiates and manages changes via the Engineering Change Request process.
- Make necessary changes in design and/or drawings utilizing 3D CAD software.
- Provide technical information and specifications for components, assemblies and final products.
- Follow a 5-phase release process for new product introduction (ie: APQP).
- Support interdepartmental teams to evaluate manufacturability of products, improve production efficiency, assess tooling requirements, and estimating labor/material.
- Provide direct manufacturing support to resolve production problems.
- Provide support and engineering documentation for technical inquiries from customers.
- Define and communicate product /component specifications to suppliers for new products or special customer projects.
- Work with interdepartmental teams to ensure continuous compliance to ISO 9001, TS 16949 and IATF 16949 standards.
- Involvement in relevant standards organizations (ISO, NFPA, SAE etc)
- Observe and practice safety procedures and policies.

Your Education Should Be…
- BS degree required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent standing, sitting and walking,
- Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional heavier lifting.
- Frequent computer work.
- Hands on to include working on different types of trucks
Working Conditions:
- Production factory support and office environment.
- Work related travel will be required up to 2 weeks/month.
- Possible travel to customer sites to gather data or work on various projects
Work Hazards:
- Production floor environment will involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors.
- Working with cryogenic products will involve possible exposure to pressurized flammable gas, pressurized oxidizing gas, pressurized inert gas and very low temperatures (-320º F).
Your Professional Experience Should Be…
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a minimum of 8 years of engineering experience
- Experience in the heavy truck, automotive industry as an OEM supplier or OEM manufacturer
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Highly motivated self-starter and a team player
- Customer service oriented
- Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Pak, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proven experience with 3D modeling and design utilizing AutoCad/Inventor and/or SolidWorks
- Exposure to JD Ewards or similar manufacturing software
- Basic Understanding of Cryogenic Liquids and their properties
- Understanding of heat transfer and vacuum insulation
- Heavy truck, automotive or diesel engine experience as related to fuel delivery and electrical systems a plus
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plance, etc a plus
- Experience with FEA a plus
