Ensuring Chart’s Success…
CHART INDUSTRIES, INC. (Chart) (NYSE: GTLS) is a leading independent global manufacturer of highly engineered equipment and services related to cryogenic gas processing and rotating equipment. In the cryogenic sector, the Chart brand is synonymous with the liquefaction, distribution, and storage of liquid gases, including oxygen, nitrogen, LNG, biogas, hydrogen, helium, and carbon dioxide. The acquisition of Howden expanded our portfolio to include air and gas handling products such as compressors, cooling fans, steam turbines, and more, expanding our offering of products and solutions across traditional markets and providing access to new ones such as nuclear, energy recovery, tunnel ventilation, mine safety, and electrification.
Chart products are widely used across industry, leisure, science, medicine, food and beverage, water treatment, and clean energy. The ability to combine multiple products to create complete end-to-end solutions is what makes Chart unique and has established the company as a pioneer in developing applications such as LNG to power, hydrogen, carbon capture, and cooling systems for high-energy users such as data centers, green steel, and many more.
What Will You Do?
- Design and develop air-cooled heat exchangers based on project requirements, client specifications, and industry standards.
- Develop and review detailed 3D models and 2D engineering drawings with correct GD&T.
- Select finned tubes, headers, tube layouts, fan configurations, and structural components based on thermal and mechanical considerations.
- Execute mechanical design calculations for components (tube thickness, header design, vibration analysis, thermal stresses).
- Review and interpret process data sheets, PFDs/P&IDs, and client design parameters.
- Coordinate with process engineers on thermal requirements, air-side heat transfer, and optimization of exchanger configuration.
- Support thermal design tools (HTRI or equivalent) during process–mechanical integration.
- Ensure compliance with codes and standards such as TEMA, ASME, API, and project-specific specifications.
- Prepare and maintain design documents: datasheets, GA drawings, fabrication drawings, specifications, test plans, and inspection checklists.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—process, structural, electrical, instrumentation, QA/QC, and project management—to ensure smooth execution.
- Extracting bill of materials from drawing and uploading into the ERP system.
- Generating specification documents for bought out items.
- Support manufacturing team to troubleshoot non-conformities, in the eventuality of such occurrences.
- Ensure that designs comply with relevant industrial standards such as API, ASME.
- Optimization of design to reduce the cost.
- Active participation in continuous improvement and new product development.
- Knowledge of supplier base will add advantage.
