We invite applications for the Service Technician- Welding Products position at our ESAB South Africa, a division of Howden Africa (Pty) Ltd based in Germiston. The Service Technician will be responsible for servicing, maintenance, repair, and installation of welding and cutting products. Ensure that all manual welding and cutting products sold by ESAB South Africa are pre-delivery tested. This role will ensure that all automation and cutting products are commissioned and put into service professionally and on time as agreed in the contract with the customer to whom it is sold, and be available for after sales support and training. 

What Will You Do?

  • Ensure pre-delivery inspections are carried out.
  • Demonstrate new manual welding and cutting machines at customers, distributors, or ESAB premises.
  • Installation of manual and automated/mechanized/robotic welding and cutting equipment
  • Ensure service is completed to a high standard within the agreed timeline for customers.
  • Ensure documentation for servicing is completed accurately.
  • Provide education to our customers/distributors/agents on their welding and cutting products.
  • Conduct equipment training.
  • Provide after sales service.
  • Comply with ISO9001, OCHSA 18001 and ISO14001
  • Adhere to Howden/Customer/Statutory procedures, instructions, quality and safety standards.

Your Experience Should Be...

  • Grade 12/ Matric
  • Qualified & trade tested Welder.
  • N3 Technical qualification
  • 5-8 years’ experience in a Service Technician position within the welding industry.
  • Excellent welding and cutting process and product knowledge.
  • Good understanding of electronic tools.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to situational demands.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Willing to travel when required.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
