The Cost Accountant II provides technical services using professional skills to track and report forecasted and actual results from large equipment contracts. They will assist in the financial functions for Chart Industries in New Iberia, LA to ensure accounting requirements are met and properly recorded. This role will be responsible for leading manufacturing accounting functions including material and labor cost tracking & reporting (weekly & monthly), maintaining and monitoring fixed assets for the operation, processing required accruals, reconciling accounts, and establishing and improving processes while adhering to SOX policies & GAAP.
The ideal candidate will need to be results driven, forward-thinking, and be an effective problem-solver and communicator.
**Annual Salary $64,000 - $84,000**
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
- Manage and maintain Project cost subledgers and monitor cost variances on jobs.
- Work with project managers on equipment/service sales order contracts to assess manufacturing variances on jobs and support risk mitigation
- Partner with the Production Control Manager to understand labor variances
- Prepare and distribute monthly cost center reports to management
- Develop improvements to consumable tracking
- Prepare weekly labor reporting
- Review and approve PO Recs and track procurement
- Assist TWO with Month-end balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain accuracy of fixed asset listing
- Keeps up to-date on corporate policy and any changes in JDE system.
- Lead monthly and year-end closing including year-end audits.
- Establish a tracking on rental contracts and rental equipment
- Routine material and labor standards tracking and updates
- Keeps up to-date on corporate policy and any changes in current ERP system.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned
- Follow SOX procedures
Your Education Should Be…
- Four-year college education; preferably in Accounting or Finance

Your Professional Experience Should Be…
- Four or more years’ experience in cost accounting in manufacturing related field
- Knowledge of JD Edwards a plus
- Knowledge of general ledger account structure
- Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Act
- Strong general ledger account reconciliation skills
- Exceptional working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word & MS Outlook
- Strong skills in accounting, 10-key calculator, typewriter, and computer data entry.
- Demonstrated record of good work attendance
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness looking for ways to improve the process
- Maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work well with all aspects of an organization
