Chart New Prague is looking for a full-time entry-to-intermediate level engineer to join our New Prague R&D team. This individual will be splitting time in both an office and a lab setting. In addition to being comfortable using computer software to analyze data, write test plans, and compile reports, the ideal candidate must be a self-starter and lab proficient in using tools to set up tests, record data, make physical and parametric changes based on results. The ability to analyze-on-the-fly is a strong attribute.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
- Create test protocols for R&D projects.
- Prepare test specimens and assemble prototype parts.
- Set up and perform experiments based on project requirements.
- Install test instruments and connect instrumentation wiring.
- Conduct tests, operate data acquisition equipment and analyze collected data.
- Transfer liquid cryogens by pressure transfer and pump transfer methods.
- Write technical reports based on observations & results and communicate to stakeholders.
- Perform design calculations and analysis in terms of performance, expected results, and safety.
- Organize and prioritize multiple projects and drive to completion.
Your Education Should Be…
BS Engineering degree, strongly prefer Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering. Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other engineering disciplines are acceptable for a mechanically oriented person.
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…
- Office, lab, factory, and outdoor environments.
- Compressed gases including cryogenic nitrogen and hydrogen present in the lab and test areas.
- Engineering lab includes indoor and outdoor testing, all year round.
- Work related travel may be required (approximately 5% maximum).
- Lifting moderately heavy test equipment, connecting hoses, climbing ladders.
- Laboratory & production floor environment will involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors.
- Liquid nitrogen, liquid carbon dioxide, and liquid hydrogen testing.
- Exposure to metal cutting, welding odors, welding flash and incidental acceptable limits of x-ray radiation.
- Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and occasional crawling.
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. with assistance
Your Professional Experience Should Be…
- One to four years of experience in the engineering, design, fabrication, testing, and commissioning of new concepts and new products.
- Must be motivated & independent but also comfortable working with a team.
- Strong mechanical aptitude both mentally and hands-on.
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
- Previous experience in test data acquisition preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially strong in Excel.
- SolidWorks or other CAD experience preferred.
- Mathcad experience beneficial.
- FEA or CFD experience beneficial.
