What You Will Do
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and continuous improvement activities across a diverse range of CNC machine tools and manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems to minimise downtime and maximise machine performance.
- Support the maintenance and optimisation of high-value manufacturing equipment, including horizontal and vertical machining centres, mill-turn machines, grinding machines, thread milling equipment and dynamic balancing machines.
- Troubleshoot and repair critical machine components such as spindle systems, servo drives, axis drives, bearings, lubrication systems, feedback devices and machine control systems.
- Monitor machine condition and performance, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, availability and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Perform machine inspections, alignment checks and condition monitoring activities to maintain machining accuracy and product quality.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently and to the required precision standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on maintenance best practice, machine reliability and manufacturing performance.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with safety, quality and environmental standards.
What Do You Bring?
- Proven experience in a maintenance role within a precision engineering, machine tool, aerospace, power generation, rotating equipment or similarly demanding manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills, ideally gained supporting CNC machine tools or other complex manufacturing equipment.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Understanding of CNC machine tool operation and the factors that influence machining accuracy, repeatability and overall performance.
- Knowledge of spindle systems, servo drives, axis drives, bearings, feedback devices, lubrication systems and machine control technologies.
- Practical understanding of machine geometry, alignment and precision motion systems.
- Experience delivering planned preventative maintenance, condition monitoring and reliability improvement programmes.
- Ability to perform structured root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and respond effectively to equipment issues.
- A proactive approach to maintenance, with a focus on improving machine performance rather than simply repairing failures.
- Relevant engineering qualifications in mechanical, electrical or multi-skilled maintenance disciplines are desirable.
You'll be someone who understands not only how to repair equipment when it fails, but how to maintain and improve machine performance to consistently deliver the precision, reliability and repeatability required within an advanced manufacturing environment.
