We are seeking a talented and driven Software Engineer to join our team at Howden Compressors, a leading manufacturer of screw compressors. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining web applications that improve product selection, operational efficiency, and data analysis across the organization.
Your role will involve building user-friendly applications for internal teams and external stakeholders, creating operational dashboards, and leveraging data analysis tools to enhance our production processes.
Additionally, you will play an integral role in our continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to optimize existing systems and introducing innovative solutions to enhance performance and decision-making.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

What will you do...
- Design, develop, and maintain web applications using Django, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Analyse data from various sources and develop tools for improved decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Continuously enhance existing systems and processes to drive efficiency and innovation.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software solutions.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to automate processes and integrate software with hardware systems.
- Stay up to date with the latest technologies and apply them to drive innovation in product development and operational performance.
What do you bring...
An ideal candidate would likely have the following profile;
- Bachelor’s / Masters degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or a related field.
- Proven track record of academic excellence and an ability to learn quickly.
- Experience with web application development and languages such as python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL
- Strong problem-solving skills with a passion for building efficient and scalable software solutions.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
It would also be beneficial to have the following skills;
- Experience with python and Django would be beneficial, but not essential.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus, but not required.
- Knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
