Howden’s core focus is on providing quality solutions for air and gas handling, and has over a century of experience in doing so. We are currently seeking an Aftermarket Americas Operations Manager to join our dynamic and fast-paced environment in the Aftermarket business. In this role you will be responsible for the project execution of our AFM Parts business. You will directly oversee Project Managers and Project Coordinators. This role will interface with cross functional teams and will provide day-to-day direction, to ensure projects are completed on time, are on budget, and delivered to customer satisfaction.
This role can be in office or hybrid at one of the following locations: Buffalo, NY; Medina, OH, Stafford, TX.
What Will You Do?
- Provide strategic and tactical guidance to project management team to ensure projects are completed on time and to the customer’s satisfaction.
- Assist with escalation, problem solving, prioritization needs of the team.
- Lead team meetings, oversee key reporting metrics and analysis, and measurement of performance to objective.
- Attract, Develop and Retain Employees
- Partner with all central functions including Sales, Proposals, Quality, Engineering, Finance, IT, and HR to ensure that enabling strategies and tactics are in place and are consistent with broader business targets.
- Ensure the staff attains the required level of proficiency in project management, customer service and communication, and product / market knowledge, as appropriate.
- Coordination with legal, sales, proposals teams to align on any terms and conditions and handover topics, as well as with legal, sales, global trade and compliance and supply chain / project management leadership on execution of tariff invoicing and collections. Conduct ongoing training and development of project management team to ensure consistent knowledge to legal / contract terms and conditions.
- Engages with all businesses and functions to promote and sustain a continuous improvement culture within the organization.
- Establish and track departmental KPIs and utilize problem solving and process improvement tools to achieve and improve upon the established KPI’s.
Operational Excellence & Risk Management additional tasks and duties may include:
- Ensure Operational Continuity
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks that could impact project delivery, customer satisfaction, or financial performance. Implement contingency plans and escalation protocols to maintain business continuity.
- Governance & Compliance Oversight
- Monitor adherence to internal policies, industry regulations, and contractual obligations. Partner with internal audit and compliance teams to ensure alignment and accountability.
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Support Strategic Initiatives
- Contribute to the development and execution of strategic plans (i.e. sourcing strategies, advanced manufacturing, process trouble shooting) that align with Chart’s long-term goals. Translate high-level objectives into actionable project roadmaps.
- Portfolio Management
- Oversee the prioritization and resource allocation across multiple projects to ensure optimal delivery and alignment with business priorities.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Customer Relationship Management
- Act as a key point of contact for strategic customers, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded. Facilitate feedback loops to continuously improve service delivery.
- Executive Reporting
- Prepare and present performance updates, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Your Experience Should Be...
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field, or 12+ years of progressive project management and leadership experience..
Your Professional Experience Should Be…
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant business background
- Experience in leadership roles
- Strong financial acumen, including experience in the financial aspects of project management, i.e., delivering within project margin, variance and cash flow projections.
- Experience in lean manufacturing and/or continuous improvement environment.
- Identify ways to improve processing speed and On-Time Delivery in order to meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Very high ethical standards, teamwork, safety, customer focus and compliance with regulations.
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, communication (oral and written), time management, stakeholder management and negation skills.
- Advanced problem-solving capabilities, with a proven ability to manage risk and resolve escalations effectively and able to organize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Customer focus while being able to keep Howden North America’s and the customer’s interests in balance during disputes.
- Proven ability to quickly assess complex issues and identify root causes/key success factors. Decision making skills including knowledge of varying decision-making styles and appropriateness of each.
- The ability to interact with diverse global cultures and demonstrate effective communication skills with associates, suppliers and customers in a variety of business functions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems
- Experience in Project Management
Desired
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in project management
- Experience in Rotating Equipment industry, with Installation and Commissioning / Overhaul services and working for OEMs.
- Proven management of subordinate project managers with span of control across multiple product lines or industries.
- Project Management Certification
- Knowledgeable of fabricating and assembly of heavy industrial products
- Experience in air and gas handling and movement industry (or similar high-tech, engineering- focused, industry, such as aerospace & defense).
- Experience working in a matrix organization where influence, indirect leadership and compelling ideas are used to accomplish organizational objectives.
- Experience working through a sales representative network.
- Act as liaison between Howden and sales reps/customers. Manage customer expectations through the life of a project and use problem solving ability to resolve issues that arise.
- Implement process changes to improve projects On Time Delivery, Projects Margin and Vendor On Time Delivery

Minimum starting annual base salary: $115,000
