The Quality Department at Chart's Alabama facility helps create and maintain the culture that customer satisfaction through quality products is key. This is a very hands-on team that ensures as business needs change, quality process and results are continually evaluated for progress or new solutions implemented.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Provides basic analysis of data and writes summaries to validate or show deviations from existing standards
  • Performs work under direct supervision
  • Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff
  • Utilizes basic tools (such as calipers, micrometers, rulers etc.)
  • Inspects products to insure conformance to established quality standards
  • Conducts sample receiving inspections on purchased parts
  • Gather gas samples in support of product gas analysis
  • Initiates nonconformance reports
  • Prepares samples for mechanical testing
  • Performs tensile strength and impact testing
  • Conducts base metal and bend tests

Your Education Should Be…

High school diploma or GED;  some college preferred

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and sit.  Frequently uses hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.  Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.  Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color evaluations and the ability to adjust focus. 

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • 1 + years of quality technician experience or minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and work orders
  • Basic math skills (weight measurement, volume, distance, multiplication, and division)
  • Attention to detail essential
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Proven ability to identify, reason and problem solve minor non-conformities and deviations
  • Overtime and weekend hours, as needed
  • Welding experience, a plus
