This is a hands-on role in which you will act as a strategic partner to the management team, helping to manage financial performance across complex industrial contracts.

Rather than focusing solely on traditional reporting cycles, this position is embedded in the heart of our project delivery activities. You will be responsible for interpreting contracts, forecasting cash flow, monitoring budgets, and identifying financial and operational risks. Working closely with the management team, engineering, and commercial colleagues, you will ensure timely invoicing, accurate forecasting, and strong financial governance throughout the entire project lifecycle.

What Will You Do?

Main Purpose of the Role

  • Support the local business by providing accurate monthly reporting and strong financial control, reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller and partnering closely with the General Manager.
  • Support the local management team in enhancing and continuously improving financial reporting processes, maximising the capabilities of the Epicor ERP system across the business.
  • Act as a trusted financial partner to the General Manager, providing insight and guidance across all aspects of the business while ensuring compliance with Dutch financial, tax, and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting operations for Howden CPI Netherlands, ensuring monthly reporting is completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with Group policies and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports in line with Group standards, providing valuable financial insights and business partnering support to the local leadership team.
  • Produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial analyses and performance reports to support informed decision-making and identify key trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support the Financial Controller in preparing the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, including reviews of bookings, revenue, margins, and cost projections.
  • Complete reporting requirements for Pulse submissions, analysing bookings, sales, and margin expectations, explaining variances, and constructively challenging assumptions where appropriate.
  • Drive cash performance by actively monitoring working capital and ensuring the accuracy of weekly cash flow forecasts.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Manager and Contracts team on financial matters including bank guarantees, credit insurance, and other commercial considerations.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies, controls, and best practices that support both operational excellence and strategic business objectives.
  • Ensure robust financial controls are maintained and that all processes comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SoX) principles and internal governance requirements.
  • Build strong relationships across the business and support continuous improvement of cross-functional processes, communication, and collaboration.
  • Coordinate effectively with internal and external auditors and support all audit-related activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Dutch statutory reporting requirements and coordinate regulatory reporting activities with the wider Group Finance team.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small local finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, development, and continuous improvement.
  • Support and lead ad hoc projects, providing financial analysis and insight into operational and commercial challenges.

What will you bring with you?

Skills, knowledge & behaviours 

  • Essential skills, knowledge & behaviours
  • Preferably a qualified Accountant (ACA, ACMA or ACCA)
  • Preferably either newly qualified or up to 5 years post qualifying experience, preferably with a manufacturing background
  • Preferably experience of working in SOX environment and US GAAP knowledge 
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, consistently delivering results whilst managing conflicting priorities
  • Ambitious, eager to learn and take on new challenges and prepared to embrace and develop in an environment of continuous improvement
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Analytical but innovative thinker
  • Willingness to travel to other business units as required
