Ensuring Chart’s Success…

Our Designer roles work under the supervision of the Drafting Supervisor to develop CAD parametric models and drawings for air cooled heat exchangers using Inventor and AutoCAD software.  Projects include design and development of new components/assemblies as well as maintaining existing designs and related documentation.  Uses CAD automation tools to their fullest to minimize engineering effort on new projects.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

    Develop detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings, layouts, spreadsheets and tolerance stack-ups as assigned
    Utilizes CAD automation tools wherever possible to drive productivity and accuracy within the design group
    Works with Hudson Design and Drawing Standards to ensure work complies with the standards
    Prepare and maintain project documentation and ensure compliance to internal and external standards as assigned
    Establishes Design Bill of Materials (BoM) for assemblies/projects as assigned
    Other as assigned
 

Your Education Should Be…

Associates Degree in Engineering related field or related experience/education*

*An additional 5 years of applicable experience and Vocational/Technical Education in Design/Drafting and Mechanical Design or Equivalent can in lieu of the Associates Degree

•    Some Noisy/Loud Shop Environment

REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) WHILE IN THE SHOPS:
•    Safety Glasses
•    Steel Toe Shoes
•    Ear Plugs 
•    Gloves (when needed)
•    Face Shield (when needed)
•    Tyvek Coveralls (optional)
•    Sports Belt (optional)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands; and reach with hands and arms.
 

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

•    Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
•    Must have the ability to read mechanical blueprints/drawings, sketches and create 3D part & assembly models
•    Must be creative, have a strong attention to detail, must be organized, self-motivated and able to multi-task
•    Ability to prioritize work to meet schedule requirements of assignments
•    Ensure that safety is a prime consideration in designs and in the workplace
•    Communicate Effectively and Accurately

•    3D Modeling – Inventor
•    AutoCAD 2D
•    Familiarity with ERP (BOM) systems preferred
•    Good interpersonal and communication skills are required
•    Metal fabrication – Cutting, forming, welding of structures or machinery
•    Knowledge of ISO, ASME Y14 ‘Drafting and Document’ standards, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
