Chart Industries is currently seeking an on-site Electrical Engineer based in Beasley, TX. The Electrical Engineer will help design and develop control systems and instrumentation as part of turbomachinery packages using his/her instrumentation, controls and electrical (I/C/E) engineering expertise, ensuring work is completed safely, within budget and schedule, and in accordance with the standards required. This team member will provide project and maintenance support to other departments; will prepare documentation in accordance with standards and procedures relevant to industrial turbomachinery; and create, maintain, store, and distribute critical instrumentation, control and electrical (I/C/E) drawings according to procedures and standards.

What Will You Do?

•    Ensures all assigned Instrument and Electrical (I/E) Projects are managed such that the safety, quality, cost and schedule targets are achieved.
•    Ensures the assigned projects are implemented in accordance with Chart Industries’ standards, procedures, and comply with all regulations.
•    Provides expert knowledge, advice, and direction on instrumentation and control systems to the engineering and project management teams within Chart Industries as well as the customer.
•    Participates in the development of piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, instrument data sheets, control narratives, logic diagrams, cause/effect diagrams, and other documentation typically required for supporting turbomachinery packages.
•    Designs control systems, algorithms, network architecture and other engineering activities necessary for the control, monitoring and protection of turbomachinery packages.
•    Programs PLCs, HMIs and other controllers necessary for the control, monitoring and protection of turbomachinery packages.
•    Responsible for the review of vendor quotations, drawings and data, ensuring compliance with customer and industry specifications.

•    Manages the assigned I/C/E work to meet customer and industry requirements.
•    Works directly with lead mechanical engineers to develop technical strategies for complex industrial projects.
•    Provides guidance and support to customers and Chart Industries field service technicians during construction and commissioning activities.
•    Conducts investigations into all system failures and identify the system modifications, upgrades, or changes required to prevent future issues. 
•    Provides technical advice and assistance to the I&E Supervisor, I&E Technicians and the Operations Department on instrument and electrical systems.
•    Identifies instrumentation and electrical systems training requirements.
•    Develops procedures, processes and work instructions for I/C/E engineering tasks.
•    Stays current with the latest technical innovations in instrumentation & controls engineering.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, use hands and fingers to type, handle, feel, grasp, push, and pull. The individual is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk and hear, operate office equipment (computer, copier, scanner, phone, etc.) and perform repetitive motion. The individual is occasionally required to climb, walk and/or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The individual may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. This position is subject to both office and uncontrolled manufacturing shop environmental conditions, noise and oils, as well as subject to hazards such as, but not limited to, moving parts and vehicles, heat and chemicals.

Your Experience Should Be...

•    Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Eletrical Engineering from an accredited institution required.
•    Five (5+) years of experience as an Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer.
•    Preferred two years of experience in the turbomachinery industry.
•    Working knowledge of piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and motor control schematics.
•    Strong diagnostic/fault finding skills.
•    Excellent computer skills.
•    Effective verbal and written communication skills.
•    In-depth knowledge of standards and procedures and industry best practices.
•    Ability to produce drawings and documentation in AutoCAD.
•    Some knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC equipment is a plus.
