Ensuring Chart’s Success…

Hudson Products is looking for an Entry Level Engineer to join the Hudson Fans department. The role will support Hudson’s Tuf-Lite axial flow fan business unit and add bandwidth to the Fan Engineering department. 

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

The Fan Engineer will support the Engineering department within the Hudson Fan’s business in the following activities:    

  • Research and Development: 
    • Support R&D for designing new products with the help of 3D modeling tools
    • Assistance with CFD studies
    • Assist with executing various validation tests
    • Facilitate structural R&D by implementing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for fiberglass composites (FRP) and homogeneous metals.
  • Manufacturing support:
    • Provide production engineering guidance in order to ensure the manufacturing of products according to certain engineering standards.
    • Work with procurement to qualify vendors
    • Assist operations with mold and station design for a newly developed fan blade
    • Assist operations during the structural R&D phase, i.e., fiber-glass lay-ups and optimizing the Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) process
    • Update and develop engineering standards for operations to follow
    • Assist with Lean Manufacturing initiatives as needed
  • Quality:
    • As projects are assigned by the Engineering Manager, work closely with Fans Quality Assurance in the design and implementation of a formal quality control program. 
    • As projects are assigned by the Engineering Manager, work closely with Fans Quality Assurance to provide a framework for inspections and reporting of key quality metrics
    • Monitor and update engineering standards as required
  • Engineering & Drafting:
    • Support the Engineering department to materialize the initiative of converting the old 2D AutoCAD drawings to 3D models using Autodesk Inventor
    • Help field service team to understand the data collected in the field and to formulate a report for the same
    • Effectively communicate with customers in order to troubleshoot structural issues associated with their axial fans
    • Coordinate with field service in order to develop a standardized inspection and reporting procedure to inspect FRP fan blades in the field
    • Assist with day to day Engineering support activities (fan selections, part creation, order validation, general sales support, ect.)

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Proficient with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
  • Proficient with commercial FEA tools. Composite FEA experience preferred
  • Experience with structural dynamics and fatigue mechanics
  • Knowledge about vibration dynamics and vibration troubleshooting
  • Proficient with all programs within Microsoft Office
  • Organizational & Time Management skills
  • Communicate and Interact in a friendly, helpful, respectful, and professional manner with customers and internal personnel
  • Follow directions from a supervisor
  • Work safely around equipment, tools, parts, machinery and material
  • May require possible travel, domestic and internationally, up to 10% per year

Your Education Should Be…

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Required) Mechanical Engineer Preferred
  • Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred)
