Sr. Automation Specialist

 

JOB TITLE:

Sr. Design Engineer

 

FLSA CLASSIFICATION:

Exempt

 

SUPERVISES:

None

           

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Develop CAD Automation of parametric models and drawings for air cooled heat exchanger models to drive the savings in engineered to order drafting costs, while maintaining drawing accuracy and a focus on DFM/DFA.  Responsible for HPC’s Vault deployment including new development and upgrades.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Minimum Education: 

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (*Mechanical Engineering preferred, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent)

 

Minimum Experience:

Ten years related experience or training 

 

Skills Required (i.e. certifications, licenses, registrations, etc.):

 

  • Leadership

  • Programming Inventor iLogic through the API and iLogic, C# and Visual Basic (VB)
  • Project Management
  • 3D Modeling – Inventor Expert
  • Process flow/mapping

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Assist in the development of CAD Modeling and Drafting Standards to be used for all modeling, drafting and automation thereof
  • Drives CAD user updates to tools and standards to ensure conformity among the group.
  • Development of automation software (C#, VB, iLogic, VB.Net) to drive Inventor with an 80/20 focus (automate the configurable standard designs)
  • Ability to work with databases (SQL, XML)
  • Work with engineering, drafting and operations to ensure we are incorporating DFM/DFA into our models and drawings
  • Continuously improve design automation to improve productivity and accuracy as directed
  • Automation of other engineering related tools and outputs

(Ex. Spreadsheets/calculations, parts lists, bolt lists, BOM generation, etc.)

  • Maintain/update automation software tools as required with CAD software updates
  • Assist in the design and development of new products also including assembly, testing, prototyping and design for manufacturability and assembly
  • Other projects as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS - MUST BE ABLE TO DO THE FOLLOWING:

 

  • Strong organization skills – Assures that projects are completed within cost estimates and time requirements
  • Coordinate with other department managers as required to assure Company objectives are met
  • Develop system procedures to assure that the department’s work is of consistent high quality and adheres to industrial and Company standards
  • Ability to prioritize work to meet schedule requirements of assignments
  • Produce weekly project status reports
  • Maintain communication with the end users of design automation services to assure high quality and customer satisfaction
  • Continuously improvement of design automation solutions to provide the most accurate, cost effective and productive solution possible
  • Ensure that safety is a prime consideration in designs and in the workplace
  • Provide technical training to company associates as required
  • Communicate effectively and accurately
