Howden South Africa division is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to manage service-related projects as allocated,
from inception to completion, and ensure they generate revenue for Howden. The position will also ensure a safe working environment for all
Howden staff whilst working on these projects. This is a temporary position for 6 months.

What Will You Do?

  • Build ongoing customer relations with existing and potential clients to support the securing of new business in the future.
  • Select the appropriate approach to delivering the project (based on the negotiated contract and within budgetary guidelines) through regular discussions and agreement with the customer, ensuring that most revenue is generated as a result, and that the scope of work and assessment of the site is carried out to allow the project to be delivered effectively.
  • Execute the project based on the agreed approach and ensure that it is delivered in a profitable and controlled manner so that all elements of the project are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Manage cash generation through control of invoicing, debtors, and creditors, thereby ensuring that the project delivers cash at the appropriate time within the project lifecycle.
  • Carry out cost assessments with the customer to ensure that a full review of the project’s deliverables has taken place and both parties are satisfied with the effectiveness of the delivery.
  • Undertake status reviews to assess which current projects are live or closed and to define what action needs to be taken in concluding the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee the adherence to Health & Safety guidelines as issued by Howden, provide a safe working environment for Howden employees, and minimise the risks associated with the project.
  • Adherence to Howden Power National service contract, where applicable.
  • SOX Compliance: Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls.

Your Experience Should Be...

  • Degree/ National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Project Management Professional Certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience within the power industry.
  • An understanding of fan and pre-heater products.
  • Negotiating skills.
  • Knowledge of NEC and FIDIC.
  • Ability to communicate well at all levels with good presentation skills.
  • A valid Code 08 driver’s license.
  • MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Projects.
