Senior Project Engineer

Howden South Africa, a Division of Howden Africa (Pty) Ltd is looking for a Senior Project Engineer to manage service related projects as allocated, from project inception to completion and ensure to generate revenue and agreed margin. Provide a safe working environment for all Howden staff whilst working on these projects.

What Will You Do?

• Responsible for leading all project aspects
• Act as the primary point of contact between the customer and the Project Team. Ensure allocated customers' involvement/intelligence/influence.
• Make independent decisions regarding the direction and scope of the project that could have a significant impact on project cost and schedule as per the company guidelines.
• Responsible for the allocation of tasks and the team’s performance against the plan.
• Monitor progress, recognize and assist in the resolution of issues and problems, and report at appropriate intervals.
• Approve the Project Management Plan and review updates before submitting them.
• Regularly tracks project progress against the project management plan.
• Identify variances from the Project Management Plan (baseline)
• Review and submit revised project management plans (baseline) as a result of changes.
• Identify the specific actions required to produce the project deliverables.
• Review, approve and issue the project’s schedule. Optimize and manage the project schedule with the assistance of the Planner
• Identify project deliverables and processes that will require resources.
• Prepare the activity resource requirements for the project with input from the project team ( Ops Manager, Site Manager, Supervisor, and planner).
• Ensure adherence to health and safety standards in compliance with company policy and legislative requirements to provide a safe working environment for all employees
• SOX Compliance: Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls.

Your Experience Should Be...

• BSc/ BTech Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 7 years of project management experience
• At least 5 years’ experience in the power industry
• An understanding of fan and pre-heater products.
• Ability to travel to customer sites as required.
• Negotiating skills
• Ability to communicate well at all levels with good presentation skills.
• A valid Code 08 driver’s licence
• MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Projects.
