This position supports the external customer needs in the market by reviewing customer specifications, aligning Chart products and services to meet those specifications and then generating proposals.  This position serves as an integral link between the sales managers, design engineering, other functional groups (Manufacturing, QA, logistics,etc.) and the customer to ensure proposals are market sensitive to pricing and performance.

What Will You Do?

 

  • Review and analyze customer requirements for application of products and recommend a suitable product selection with due regard for internal engineering and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Acts as liaison between engineering and sales representatives regarding specific product applications, product design improvements and possible product development ideas and concepts including field complaints.
  • During proposal generation, serves as a liaison between customer needs and other departments concerning all aspects of customer orders such as inspections, deliveries, scheduling, spare parts list, etc. to ensure proposal account for all aspects of internal costs and resource needs. 
  • Provides technical assistance, information, support and guidance to customers and sales representatives to maximize sales volume and earnings, market penetration of products and effective relationships with customers.  Develops specifications utilizing Chart/Howden equipment.
  • Estimates cost of recommended equipment selections.  Ensures that orders are consistent with quotes and review for accuracy and edit for correct spare parts and data listed.
  • Prepares formal quotations which include data sheets, price calculations for customer products, etc. in accordance with specifications.
  • Coordinates with relevant personnel to determine what in-plant equipment testing is required to meet customer specifications, if any, or as required.
  • Maintain the required level of proficiency in application engineering skills, plus the use of Application Engineering tools. 
  • Partners with all central functions such as Quality, Engineering, Finance, IT, and HR to ensure that enabling strategies and tactics are in place and to promote and sustain a continuous improvement culture within the organization.
  • Represents the Company with customers and business partners.
  • Engage in continuous improvement for processes included in and adjacent to job role. Recognize and resolve customer satisfaction issues (both internal and external).
  • Prepare all required documents for Handover meetings in accordance with, and in support of the ERP system.

Your Experience Should Be...

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years applications experience including selection and costing, preferably in the fan or related industry.
  • Provide assistance or request assistance from sales representatives on coordinated sales efforts.
  • Recommend product developments based on market/customer needs.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High moral and ethical standards, demonstrating respect for the individual and team, and setting an example for compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate requirements. 
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to set and achieve goals.
  • Relates well to all kinds of people – at all levels of the organization and with customers; builds constructive and effective relationships; can defuse even high-tension situations comfortably.
  • Logical problem solving skills, outstanding organizational skills and dedication to quality and integrity. Proven ability to quickly assess complex issues and identify root causes/key success factors.

  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Software including; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Desirable

  • Experience in air and gas handling and movement industry.
  • Experience working in a matrix organization where influence, indirect leadership and compelling ideas are used to accomplish organizational objectives. 
  • Experience working through a sales representative network.
  • Experience working with ERP, CRM and other technology tools.

Salary Range: $106,800 - $136,400
