Ensuring Chart’s Success…

Chart Industries is seeking an independent, results oriented and self-motivated Mechanical Engineer to provide a variety of Engineering and technical service support activities for the LNG Vehicle Fuel System products manufactured at its Canton facility.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  1. Product design, documentation and support for LNG vehicle fuel systems
  2. Product structures, bill of materials and manufacturing drawings
  3. Initiate and manage changes via the Engineering Change Request process
  4. Use 3D CAD software to make changes in design and drawings
  5. Provide technical information and specifications for components, assemblies and final products
  6. Follow a 5-phase release process for new product introduction (ie: APQP).
  7. Support interdepartmental teams to evaluate manufacturability of products, improve production efficiency, assess tooling requirements, and estimate labor/material
  8. Provide direct manufacturing support to resolve production problems
  9. Provide support and engineering documentation for technical inquiries from customers
  10. Define and communicate product /component specifications to suppliers for new products or special customer projects
  11. Work with interdepartmental teams to ensure continuous compliance to ISO 9001, TS 16949 and IATF 16949 standards
  12. Involvement in relevant standards organizations (ISO, NFPA, SAE etc)
  13. Observe and practice safety procedures and policies

Your Education Should Be…

Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably mechanical.

 

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

  • Frequent standing, sitting and walking
  • Frequent lifting up to 25 pounds, occasional need to lift heavier objects
  • Hands-on, to include working on different types of trucks
  • Work environment is production factory support and office environment

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • 5 years of related experience, with a minimum of 8 or more years of engineering experience
  • Experience in heavy truck, automotive industry as an OEM supplier or OEM manufacturer
  • Basic understanding of Cryogenic Liquids and their properties
  • General understanding of heat transfer and vacuum insulation
  • Proven experience with 3D modeling and design utilizing AutoCAD/Inventor or SolidWorks
  • Exposure/experience working with JD Edwards, a plus
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written
  • Self-starter with a customer service oriented mentality
  • Team player
  • Heavy truck, automotive or diesel engine experience as related to fuel delivery and electrical systems, highly desireable
  • APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans experience, a plus
  • FEA experience, a plus
