Ensuring Chart’s Success…

The Mechanical Engineer will independently perform a variety of investigative and validation level testing activities for LNG Vehicle Fuel Systems products.  The ideal candidate will be results oriented and a self started interested in joining Chart's Distribution & Storage division located in Ball Ground, Georgia.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  1. Review product specifications and research test methods.
  2. Instrument products to acquire real world service conditions.
  3. Compile, analyze, and reduce data to critical events.
  4. Fabricate test fixtures and prepare simulation bench tests.
  5. Schedule and project manage test programs.
  6. Document methods & results in technical reports.
  7. Suggest and procure necessary tools for testing.
  8. Evaluate and Test non-function returned parts from the field in order to determine root cause.
  9. Supports in the development and routing of an Engineering Change Request.
  10. Develop test protocol with minimum information.
  11. Identify testing and validation requirements.
  12. Supports in the Engineering activities as needed on existing and new products.
  13. Work with interdepartmental teams to ensure continuous compliance to ISO 9001, TS 16949 and IATF 16949 standards.
  14. Observe and practice safety procedures and policies.
  15. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Your Professional Experience Should Be…


  1. 1-3 years of related experience.
  2. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  3. Highly motivated self-started and  team player.
  4. Customer service orientation.
  5. Experience with experiment methodology and laboratory procedures.
  6. Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple tasks.
  7. Understands heat transfer, vacuum insulation and fluid flow.
  8. Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  9. AutoCAD/Inventor and/or SolidWorks experience



  1. Strong data management, processing and analytical skills
  2. Heavy truck, automotive or diesel engine experience, particularly fuel delivery and electrical
  3. Knowledge and/or experience utilizing Data Acquisition Systems
  4. Basic understanding of cryogenic liquids, compressed gas and their properties
  5. Familiar with ASTM and ANSI standards
  6. Familiar with APQP
  7. Experience with FEA
  8. Familiar with electrical systems

Your Education Should Be…

B.S. degree required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…


  1. Frequent standing, sitting and walking,
  2. Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional heavier lifting.
  3. Frequent computer work.
  4. Hands on to include working on different types of trucks


Working Conditions:

  1. Production factory support and office environment.
  2. Work related travel will be required up to 2 weeks/month.
  3. Possible travel to customer sites to gather data or work on various projects

Work Hazards:

  1. Production floor environment will involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors.
  2. Working with cryogenic products will involve possible exposure to pressurized flammable gas, pressurized oxidizing gas, pressurized inert gas and very low temperatures (-320º F).
