Ensuring Chart’s Success…

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for organizing, planning, and directing activities related to the development, application and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products with Chart supply chain partners. The focus is to continuously improve safety, quality, business, and manufacturing processes with an emphasis on eliminating process waste and optimizing business outcomes. Essential to this position will be to determine and drive root cause back to the source and implement corrective action to ensure the issue does not reoccur.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
  • Identifies, selects and performs ongoing evaluation of world class suppliers against safety, quality, delivery and cost criteria
  • Works with suppliers on resolving defective material issues, root cause analysis, and corrective actions using problem solving methodologies (inclusive of 8D/5Why/5Phase, etc).
  • Performs regular quality system, process and product audits on suppliers
  • Improves the Return Goods Authorization process and ensure closed loop recovery on rejected parts.
  • Lead cross function team effort in supplier recovery process for supplier caused warranty and field campaigns.
  • Improve processes to reduce common cause variability and eliminate waste.
  • Ensure and track full recovery, due to supplier caused plant disruptions.
  • Establish control plans to prevent process backsliding for consolidation of gains.
  • Perform process capability studies internally and externally.
  • Ability to effectively manage large process improvement projects using MS Project software.
  • Investigate/analyze and benchmark industry practices for process validation assessments.
  • Implement effective corrective and preventative actions utilizing structured planning methods.
  • Coordinate and work cross-functionally with Employee Teams, Commodity Managers, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Sales and Manufacturing to improve processes.
  • Organizes and executes supplier continuous improvement programs.
  • Work with suppliers to devise sampling procedures and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality and reliability data
  • Prepare Operations review Supplier and Internal Quality KPI’s, countermeasures and annual action plans for supplier quality PPM, on-time delivery, late supplier 8D responses, etc.
  • Lead the implementation of the Supplier Requirements Manual to the supply base
  • Must proactively plan and execute plans in accordance with established time constraints.
Your Professional Experience Should Be…
  • 3-5 years related experience in regulated supplier quality systems in a manufacturing environment. 

PREFERRED:

  • Hold a Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt or willingness to work towards attainment
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) preferred
  • Advanced training/experience in the use of statistical techniques and process improvement methods
  • Must interpret basic technical drawings including characteristics such as views, title blocks, dimensioning, tolerancing, GD&T symbols, etc. Interpret specification requirements in relation to product and process characteristics

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
