The Test Engineer provides a variety of engineering and testing support activities for LNG products manufactured globally by Chart’s Distribution and Storage division.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

 

  • Review product specifications and research test methods.
  • Instrument products to acquire real world service conditions.
  • Compile, analyze, and reduce data to critical events.
  • Design and fabricate test fixtures and prepare simulation bench tests.
  • Schedule and project manage test programs.
  • Document methods & results in technical reports.
  • Suggest and procure necessary tools for testing.
  • Support in the review of DFMEA’s
  • Develop DVP&R’s based on the output of the DFMEA’s
  • Evaluate and Test non-function returned parts from the field to determine root cause.
  • Observe and practice safety procedures and policies.
  • Work with interdepartmental teams to ensure continuous compliance to ISO 9001, TS 16949 and IATF 16949 standards
  • Develop test protocol with minimum information.  
  • Identify testing and validation requirements.
  • Propose design changes based on test data results.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

 

  •  1 – 3 years of experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter and a team player.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Experience with experiment methodology and laboratory procedures.
  • Strong data management, processing, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple tasks.
  • Understanding of heat transfer, vacuum insulation, and fluid flow.
  • Understanding and/or experience with electrical systems.
  • Familiar with CAN (Controller Area Network) bus communication technology.
  • Basic understanding of cryogenic liquids, compressed gas, and their properties.
  • Heavy truck, automotive, or diesel engine experience, particularly fuel delivery and electrical systems a plus.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Exposure to JD Edwards, or similar ERP.
  • Experience with AutoCAD / Inventor and/or SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge and/or experience utilizing Data Acquisition Systems a plus.
  • Experience with Data Processing software such as imc FAMOS 6.3 or similar.
  • Experience with ASTM and ANSI Standards.
  • Familiar with APQP a plus.  
  • Experience with FEA a plus.    

Your Education Should Be…

 

  • BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical), preferred OR 5+ years experience in related field 

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

 

  • Production factory support and office environment
  • Occasional travel to customers, vendors, or other Chart locations is possible
  • Production floor environment will involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors.
  • Working with cryogenic products will involve possible exposure to pressurized flammable gas, pressurized oxidizing gas, pressurized inert gas and very low temperatures (-320º F).
