Our portfolio of proven products, processes, and engineering expertise provides customers with single-point responsibility for complete solutions that enable water professionals to achieve their objectives with the lowest combination of risk and costs while driving enhanced outcomes for people, communities, and the planet. The Mechanical Engineer position will challenge you to utilize your engineering degree and project management skills to develop standard and custom products.  Mechanical Engineers work on all stages of a project, from development through installation and commissioning.  This position is responsible for all mechanical design considerations to develop and support water treatment dissolution and filtration products, ensuring Chart engineering design standards and customer specifications are met.  Previous experience in water treatment is a plus.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Read and evaluate customer specifications, code, and other industry standards.
  • Create plans, designs, and customer solutions for assigned products and projects.
  • Partner with sales, customers, and engineering to gain a better understanding of system requirements and their impact on system design and proposed solutions.
  • Evaluate process flow diagrams (PFD’s) and/or process instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Work closely with CAD designers to prepare and coordinate general arrangement, submittal, and final design fabrication/assembly drawings.
  • Develop and maintain bills of materials (BOM) for projects, specifying appropriate components.
  • Support on-site start-up and commissioning of projects as needed.
  • Work with engineering, manufacturing and supply chain teams meet customer and engineering requirements for fabrication, assembly, and shipping.

Your Education Should Be…

BS degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar.

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • Minimum 2-5 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the engineering, design, fabrication or commissioning of mechanical equipment used in water treatment, pressure vessel, boiler, or oil and gas industries
  • Experience with manufacturing facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple tasks.
  • Understanding of process diagrams, fluid flow in pipes, pump selection.
  • Understanding of compressed gases, and their properties a plus.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office: esp. Excel, but also Word and PowerPoint
  • SolidWorks CAD skills preferred.
  • Exposure to JD Edwards, SAP, or similar ERP system is a plus.
