Chart Industries is a leading global manufacturer of highly engineered equipment servicing multiple applications in the clean energy and industrial gas markets. Our unique product portfolio is used in every phase of the liquid gas supply chain, including upfront engineering, service and repair. We are looking to add an Application Engineer to the team at our Fayetteville, Arkansas location. The Application Engineer will provide engineering support related to system design, proposal preparation, project scoping, and execution of water treatment projects. This person will be responsible for preparing technical scopes of work, equipment design and sizing, cost estimates, interfacing with Sales Managers for technical sales support and preparing technical documents related to a wide variety of water treatment projects. This person will also provide support in preparing bids, project development, design, and implementation of new treatment opportunities that will assist ChartWater in growing the business.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…


  1. Sales Support
    1. Develop tools to assist the outside sales team to meet sales goals (brochures, cut sheets, etc.)
    2. Understand and develop market potential & related data
    3. Define scope to ensure specifications and requirements of the project are met
    4. Coordination between departments and personnel for technical reviews of developing opportunities and proposals (RFP, RFQ) including costing, pricing, scheduling, manufacturing capabilities, legal, finance and other required inputs
    5. Handle special marketing projects, including such items as customer presentations, sales literature, etc.
  2. Product Design 
    1. Read and evaluate specifications 
    2. Develop system bill of materials 
    3. Identify and select appropriate components and materials 
    4. Develop R&D procedures based on manager input
  3. Project Start-up 
    1. Work with Field Services to perform functional acceptance testing 
    2. Perform on-site startups 
    3. Work with client to investigate issues and recommend solutions to problems encountered on-site
    4. Recommend product changes based on finished projects

Your Professional Experience Should Be…


  • Min 3 years engineering experience
  • Experience in lime softening and biological processes
  • Knowledge of Water/Wastewater Treatment Design and/or Water Treatment Industry experience, highly preferred
  • Experience in the pulp & paper industry, highly preferred
  • Engineering Intern or Professional Engineer License preferred
  • Possess excellent written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

Your Education Should Be…


B.S. in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, or Biological Preferred) or 5+years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree

The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lifting of 25 pounds may be required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Duties include lengthy visual requirements on computer monitors.
