Chart's Material Handler & Rigger position plays a key role in the business. Chart's Houston, Texas location is currently seeking candidates interested in a Material Handler position with Rigging responsibilities within the Parts, Repairs & Service (PRS) division. The rigger plays an important role in moving finished goods out of the production facility, assists with moving tanks into the facility for rehab and repair, unloading incoming goods in the yard for repair, and loading completed goods for transport off site.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Perform clerical functions are related to inbound/outbound shipments, inventory and cycle counting
  • Process orders for internal and external customers
  • Pull orders from warehouse
  • Perform cycle counting and reconciliation daily
  • Perform regular housekeeping and maintain work area
  • Perform all tasks to ISO 9001 standards
  • Assist with the conducting of all necessary inspections on the crane and crane equipment to assure operability and proper operations of all safety devices.
  • Assist with crane operations such as:
    • Perform and assist with the rigging of the load to be moved
    • Assist with moving material during assembly operations if needed
    • Assisting in the placing of goods in designated locations
  • Maintain hands on necessary switches to allow for stopping quickly in case of an emergency
  • Assure that other personnel assisting with lifts fully understand hand signals or similar instructions before starting crane operations.
  • Operate forklifts
  • Observe and practice all safety procedures and policies, taking special precautions when moving objects over occupied areas
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors

Your Education Should Be…

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

  • The job duties for this position will require frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, crawling, and climbing and working at elevated heights.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., occasional heavier lifting.
  • Frequent pushing, pulling and handling of materials.
  • There will be time spent on the production floor and outside of the facility which will require the ability to be exposed to loud noises, temperature extremes, overhead objects, welding fumes, and possible exposure to cleaning chemicals.
  • Required to wear all necessary PPE (fall harness, hard hat, steel toes boots, safety eyewear, gloves, hearing protection) 
  • Frequent operation of forklift and scissor lift
  • Frequent pushing, pulling and handling of material
  • Frequent working at elevated positions

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial construction environment
  • Previous Rigging experience is preferred but not required
  • Basic computer skills including data entry and familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Customer service skills
  • Excellent work and attendance records
