The Role…
Available as a result of an internal promotion, the General Manager for CPI UK will be accountable for the business and management of the UK entity based in Hungerford, establishing credibility and leadership with all members of the management team.
The GM will be tasked with providing strategic direction and effective management to ensure a strong team working culture so that the business achieves its performance and growth objectives, as well as systems and procedure keep pace. This includes ensuring the achievement of company objectives and profit targets and the success of new product launches and review of new business opportunities, from marketing vision and strategy to implementation.
The role will be required to interface effectively with the relevant global divisions to maximise lifecycle opportunities for products both locally and at a global level.

What will you do…
- Maximise the sales and profit growth of the facility: includes defining ambitious budgets with the team, maximizing the potential of existing product ranges and ensuring the successful introduction of new products, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of reporting, seeking out new business opportunities.
- Provide motivational leadership through personal example and by forming and leading a highly motivated and energetic management team.
- Shape the organization, coach, lead and develop the team; foster teamwork as well as a leadership culture which attracts, develops, and retains high calibre talent to build and shape a commercial talent pool that will drive the future successes of the organization.
- Ensure compliance with statutory accounting practices and local employment laws.
- Manage KPI’s and evaluate success in reaching targets with his team, in line with global requirement.
- Work closely with HR partners on employee relations, talent planning & acquisition and set clear performance measures for team members.
- Create a culture of excellence focused on customers satisfaction and profitability, where employees understand the vision and the strategy.
- Develop a mind-set of proactivity and willingness to overachieve the targets.
- Drive the focus on continuous improvement, standardisation and opportunities to increase efficiencies, quality, margins and reduce cost.
- Ensure that the associates are engaged and fully trained in a collaborative environment.
- Create an environment where security and safe environment are the 1st priority.
- Build long term, trusting relationships with stakeholders: internally with other Chart Industries businesses, employee representatives, externally with customers, suppliers, business partners and authorities.
- Ensure that the employees respect internal policies and legislation and that the company is fully compliant.
What do you bring…
Essential skills, knowledge & behaviours
- BA/BSc/MA/HND in mechanical engineering
- 5+ years’ experience in management
- Experience working in international environment
- Senior level decision making within manufacturing and commercial business
Desirable skills, knowledge & behaviours
- A multi-faceted professional with experience in a variety of fields, including operations, sales, leadership and change management in both UK and international environments; a good understanding of the oil & gas and compression market is a plus.
- Ability to clearly convey messages in written and oral form and to monitor team discussions effectively; able to gain credibility, trust and influence at different levels
- Experienced working with people & managing cross-functional teams
- Entrepreneurial and results-driven with a strong bias for action and tangible results.
- Successful experience in Management of P&L in an international industrial company
- Entrepreneurial, solution oriented mind-set.
