We are looking for candidates to fill the position of Financial Accountant within our Howden MEA Projects Division. The Financial Accountant is responsible for overseeing the Shared Service team on specific essential deliverables. This role involves ensuring that accounting information is precise and adheres to both local and international accounting standards, as well as compliance with legislation. The incumbent will provide data for the month-end closing process, forecasting, and budget reporting. Ensuring that adequate internal controls are established to protect the Company's assets.

What Will You Do?

  • Ensure VAT and Tax obligations are met and properly reconciled. 
  • Perform capital expenditure / ROIC reviews (as necessary) for proposed capital projects and track ROIC performance of implemented capital projects.  Assist the Financial Director in working capital management.
  • Manage safeguarding company assets and ensure proper insurance cover is in place.
  • Review of Foreign Payments confirming compliance with exchange control and taxation legislation.
  • Review Forecast overhead information based on expected expenditure for the period and work closely with operations to monitor costs and control over expenditure.
  • Provide information for key divisional financial schedules for AFS to be included in the listed company AFS
  • Perform month end close: Review all required balance sheets and income reconciliations required for accurate and timely reporting. Perform month end closing procedures for the general ledger and ensure all transactions are interfaced. 
  • Participate in the preparation of the monthly forecast, strategic plan and annual budget.
  • Ensure adherence to Group Operating Manual, King III requirements, Sarbanes Oxley compliance and US GAAP reporting requirements.
  • Ensure reporting requirements are met for key customer reporting on a quarterly basis relating to BEE procurement spend.
  • Develop, maintain and distribute management reports as necessary to support the ongoing business and continuous improvement initiatives. Preparation of Supporting documentation for Group Reporting Packs on a monthly basis and analyse key numbers provided for accuracy. 
  • Protect the financial integrity of the company by enforcing and auditing Howden policies and ensuring Sarbanes Oxley compliance.

Your Experience Should Be...

  • CA(SA) or CIMA (ACMA - Associate Chartered Management Accountant).
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in a high paced finance department.
  • IFRS, GAAP and US GAAP up to date knowledge
  • Commercially astute with the ability and desire to understand the business
  • Ability to make quick and clear decisions based on materiality and financial reporting risk
  • Sarbanes Oxley compliance experience and application of key controls.
  • Experience in system implementations and support within a full lifecycle ERP solution.
  • Experience of working in a project costing environment. Percentage of Completion calculations, WIP reporting.
  • Confident and able communicator who can influence and persuade others.
  • Professional approach to reporting.
  • Must be comfortable analysing and interpreting complex data and drawing logical conclusions
