Howden South Africa Division is looking for an experienced EHS Operations Manager. This position will be responsible for the EHS department’s efficient operational functioning and Howden Middelburg’s complies to legally and its own internal EHS standards (Legally and Customer requirements).

What Will You Do?

  • Accountable for the EHS for the service department and our customer sites to ensure we comply with legal, operational, and Howden internal procedures.
  • Responsible for HR issues within the Safety department: i.e. (grievances, recruitment, and motivation of staff).
  • Ensure the planning of the safety staff to operational requirements is fulfilled by having them on the right sites and driving safety on the various sites.
  • Ensure that the safety files are done in compliance with the correct standard and on time.
  • Ensure that the EHS compliance on all operational sites conducts Audits.
  • Responsible for the safety administration: Complete job observations and recording of safety requests/complaints/ near misses / Hazard Identification / VFLs and do investigation on all incidents. Report to the head office EHS Manager on safety stats so that we can trend the stats and take corrective actions.
  • Accountable for the service department's statutory safety meetings with the staff and customers to ensure we comply with all statutory requirements.
  • Ensure that the operational Safety officers retain visibility on-site, and communicate to our staff on-site and about Howden's and our customers' safety initiatives.
  • SOX Compliance: Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls.

Your Experience Should Be...

•    Degree or Diploma in Safety Management.
•    SAMTRAC certified.
•    Registered member of ISOM.
•    5-10 years of operational experience in the field of mechanical engineering and boilermaking.
•    Extensive SHE exposure in industrial / manufacturing environment.
•    ISO14000 environmental certified
•    ISO 45001 Health and Safety certified
•    Proficient in MS Office environment
