What Will You Do?
1) Review and complete welds to the assigned Weld Procedure Specifications.
2) Review Weld Maps, Joint Details, and Work Instructions for the assigned task.
3) Select correct welding wire and adjust machine settings appropriately.
4) Identify different material types used for the assigned task.
5) Clean welds by grinding and brushing with power tools and hand tools.
6) Work with fitters to move, clean, clamp, prepare, and tack components.
7) Complete welds using the following process (FCAW, GMAW-Pulsed, GTAW) on stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum alloy.
8) Complete welds on plate and tube in all positions.
9) Complete welds on plate, structural square tube, pressure retaining pipe, and vessels, in all positions.
10) Complete multiple pass welds on different joint geometries.
11) Complete welds with unique sequences and different weld sizes.
12) Complete welds to meet the acceptance criteria of AWS D1.1, AWS D1.6, and ASME VIII Div. 1, ASME B31.3.
13) Verify quality of weld using visual techniques and standard inspection tools.
Your Experience Should Be...
1) Basic reading and math skills.
2) Able to pass ASME IX (2”, 8”, 6G, fixed 45⁰ pipe) test. OR 2) Able to pass an ASME IX (6G, fixed 45⁰ pipe) Test.
3) (3) years of experience as a welder
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…
· Working on equipment at ground level or elevated heights.
· Working at heights above 6’ with appropriate safety measures.
· Continuous movement throughout the day.
· Standing or climbing for extended periods of time.
· Working around and with machinery.
· Working indoors or outdoors.
· Moving, lifting, and transporting welding equipment and welding wire up to 50lbs.
· Working around co-workers and other assemblies.
· Wearing required PPE for different tasks.
