The New Iberia facility specializes in cold box assembly and fabrication, pressure vessels and other cryogenic equipment as used for the air separation and hydrocarbon industries. The end users of this equipment include all the major LNG, petrochemical and air separation engineering on a worldwide basis. The facility is located at the Port of Iberia.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

Weld by arc method using gas shielded flux-cored wire, semi-automatic

Weld on carbon, alloy or stainless steel plate, sheet, shapes, castings or other parts included in fabricated steel work

Interpret drawings and welding symbols

Select the correct welding wire and adjust welding machine to make the welds specified

Operate arc gouging equipment

Produce welds which are acceptable in strength and appearance in flat, horizontal and vertical positions using  gas-shielded flux core wire welding procedures

Clean welds by grinding or brushing where required

Judge proper setup for welding

Apply welding sequences which will prevent excessive shrinkage or distortion

Learn the Weld Map and Welding Procedure Specification requirements

Demonstrate an understanding of the proper use of hand tools, grinders and welding equipment

Assist Welders and Fitters in cleaning, moving, holding, clamping and preparing work pieces

Required to work at elevated heights up to 75ft

Add’l duties and responsibilities may be assigned

 

Your Education Should Be…

High school diploma or equivalent

Able to pass 2G, 3G and 4G skill tests

Two years’ experience as a welder or technical welding program

Knowledge of shop math preferred

Requirements may be obtained through on-the-job training
