Chart's ETO (Engineer-To-Order) design group provides efficient solutions in the development of processes and products associated with cryogenic applications. The projects will range from small components to large scale plant designs. The Mechanical Designer will ensure our customer needs are met by following lean practices in the CAD modeling design phase, which includes customer drawings, manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
- Create and maintain accurate 3D models and assemblies to reflect the mechanical design and site requirements.
- Mechanical focal point in a team environment for layout and design.
- Incorporating and managing designs from concept to manufacturing.
- Create bills of material and fabrication prints for various sizes of industrial equipment.
- Facilitate meetings with other departments that focus on the design review and approval processes.
- Review documentation from other engineers and designers in a document review process.
- Collaborating with purchasing/suppliers regarding the geometry and identification of purchased parts.
- Ensure company standards and procedures are incorporated into associated drawings.
- Work independently with a high level of accuracy to complete assigned projects on time.
- You will work daily with the shop floor on your projects as they move through production.
- Good interpersonal skills are a must.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Your Education Should Be…
- Technical degree in Mechanical Drafting and Design
- Certification in Solidworks is beneficial.
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…
- This position will require the ability to move around the production floor and investigate production issues with your designed equipment.
- Lift up to 15 pounds
- Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, other related tasks in an office setting
Your Professional Experience Should Be…
- Two to four years of work experience
- Proficient with three-dimensional mechanical design software, Solidworks required
- Experience in working within a product lifecycle management environment
- Strong understanding of design for manufacturing and quality principles
- General knowledge with industrial piping and design principles
- Experience with SolidWorks piping and routing module is a plus
- General knowledge with industrial vessel design principles
- General good computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office products
