Our team will be hosting a hiring event from 11 am to 4 pm on Thursday April 22, Thursday May 6, and Thursday May 20 at our facility in New Prague, MN.  Welders intersted in taking our weld test should arrive by 3 pm.


Interested candidates/applicants should apply on our website or arrive with a resume and be prepared to complete the application process, perform a weld test, and to meet with our hiring managers. Those attending the event should wear full length pants, a mask, and safety toed shoes and bring whatever PPE they would like otherwise we have it available.  


Our main office address is 407 7th St NW New Prague, MN 56071. Please use this address, as we have several buildings on our property and typing “Chart” into a GPS typically brings people to the wrong location. For security purposes our doors remain locked during the day.  Please use the phone in the entry way to give HR a call upon arrival (the number is listed next to the phone). 


Individuals hired for Welder 6 will be eligible for a $1,000 bonus!

Ensuring Chart’s Success…

Chart’s welders play a key role in the manufacturing process of Chart’s products.  Chart’s New Prague, MN location is currently seeking candidates interested in the position of welder on the first shift (5:45 am - 2:15 pm Monday-Friday).  Candidates must be able to perform complex and critical welding operations and the position requires a full range of experience and training.  Various types of metals are used during the production process and the following types of welding are performed: GMAW, GTAW, Sub-arc welding, Plasma-arc cutting and Air-arc gouging.


What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Perform welding and other related manufacturing activities with minimal instruction and supervision
  • Layout, assemble and weld according to drawings, work instructions, and weld procedures.
  • Ability to judge the type and gauge of steel to be welded, and make proper head adjustments as required by welding procedures.
  • Position welded metal parts on fixtures; attached jigs & clamps as needed to hold metal parts in proper position for welding.
  • Perform complete welding and finishing operations for unit repair.
  • Train and instruct other welders.
  • Use various handling devices in conjunction with welding tasks.
  • Accurately maintain required documentation.
  • Utilize visual examination.
  • Observe and practice safety procedures and policies, participate in safety program and department meetings.
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.


Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • Ability to comprehend complex blueprints and weld symbols.
  • Previous experience performing GMAW, GTAW, and Sub-arc welding.
  • Experience with air-arc gouging and operation of plasma cutting machines.
  • Ability to accurately measure using devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Successful ability to pass certification tests.


Your Education Should Be…

  • Technical welding diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Print reading course including welding symbols.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

  • Exposure to metal cutting, welding odors, welding flash and incidental acceptable limits of x-ray radiation.
  • Possible exposure to chemical odors and temperature extremes.
  • Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and occasional crawling.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. and occasionally heavier (50-60 lbs.)
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, and handling of materials as well as repetitive hand movements during welding.
