This exciting position will challenge you to apply your engineering expertise in a manufacturing environment.  The Product Engineer is responsible for all engineering considerations related to the lifecycle management and support of cryogenic and industrial gas products.  Product Engineers work closely with other stakeholders (segment managers, new product development, quality, manufacturing, customer service, purchasing, etc.) to improve and maintain product lines and ensure customer satisfaction.  The ideal candidate must show initiative and be an excellent leader, driving results through cross-functional peers.  Additionally, this individual will need strong problem-solving skills and general engineering knowledge in the areas of heat transfer, fluids, thermodynamics, and structural analysis.


What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…


  • Own the product lifecycle from an engineering perspective to meet the functional needs of the market, while ensuring long-term product reliability
  • Work with segment managers and interface with customers to determine product needs
  • Work with segment managers, R&D, and product development teams to help define and execute the product line roadmap
  • Own product design and documentation, and lead product improvement and cost reduction efforts across engineering and other departments
  • Ensure best practices in engineering design are utilized for all products to meet customer needs and provide the desired service life
  • Improve product consistency and reduce variance and warranty claims by working across the organization to identify and resolve potential defects
  • Regularly benchmark competing products, including hands-on testing and report writing



  • Attend and support trade shows and key customer meetings
  • Provide technical information and specifications for components, assemblies and final products; work with suppliers to design and develop subcomponents and subassemblies
  • Provide support and engineering documentation for technical inquiries from customers.
  • Assist with training of internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Assist with validation testing of products as needed
  • Participate in relevant standards organizations as applicable (ASME, CGA, NFPA, etc.)
  • Work with interdepartmental teams to ensure continuous compliance to ISO and other standards

Your Professional Experience Should Be…



  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

Preferred:  At least 3 years of experience managing and/or developing products in small to mid-sized companies


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter and a team leader
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple tasks
  • Understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow
  • Understanding of cryogenic liquids, compressed gases, and their properties a plus
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office: esp. Excel, but also Word and PowerPoint
  • SolidWorks CAD skills preferred
  • Finite Element Analysis skills preferred
  • MathCAD or MATLAB skills preferred
  • Exposure to JD Edwards, SAP, or similar ERP system a plus

Your Education Should Be…

  • BS Engineering degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, but will consider Aerospace, Materials Science, or Nuclear Engineering disciplines
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • MS degree and/or MBA is a plus

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

  • Production factory support and office environment
  • Minimal work related travel may be required (approximately 10% or less)

Physical Requirements

1.         Frequent standing, sitting and walking

2.         Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional heavier lifting

3.         Frequent computer work


Work Hazards:

Production floor environment will involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors.

Working with cryogenic products will involve possible exposure to pressurized flammable gas, pressurized oxidizing gas, pressurized inert gas and very low temperatures (-320º F).
