Ensuring Chart’s Success…

The New Prague facility of Chart Inc. has an opening for a sustaining engineering manager.  Chart's sustaining engineering manager is critical in providing a variety of engineering and technical service leadership and support activities for the New Prague facility production lines and design teams.  The manager will lead a team to ensure engineering changes are recognized and implemented in a timely manner.  The manager’s team will be the first point of contact for all inquiries the shop floor has on engineering documentation from the Engineer-To-Order as well as Industrial Gas engineering group.  They will also review the documentation of these engineering teams prior to their release to ensure the best initial release designs possible as well as provide training and feedback to the design team to improve first submittal approval yields.  Individuals interested in this position must demonstrate leadership, be results-driven, and display a strong customer service attitude.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
  • Lead and mentor a team for both the tasks at hand as well as for their career development
  • Coordinate and prioritize Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and/or Temporary Design Deviations (TDDs)
  • Support various engineering departments with the release of new products by ensuring proper documentation is being supplied to the shop floor through participation in a review of the documentation prior to release
  • Ensure quick response to the shop floor on engineering documentation inquiries that arise during any production shift so that production keeps moving
  • Assist various operations-based departments with both process and product improvement opportunities
Your Education Should Be…
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred, but not required
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…
  • Frequent standing, sitting, bending, stooping, walking and other related tasks in an office setting
  • Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional heavier lifting
  • Frequent computer work
  • Frequent work in the production floor environment will involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors
  • Working with cryogenic products will involve possible exposure to pressurized gases and extremely low temperatures (-320F)
Your Professional Experience Should Be…
  • Over 5 years of experience in the engineering, design, fabrication, and testing of mechanical equipment is desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with design, operations and quality as required.  Previous management/leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand and interpret industrial codes and common engineering practices used within the oil & gas industry is required.
  • Ability to take projects from concept and development to approval, review and completion
  • Desire and ability to do hands-on work
