The Role

 

The Head of Sales will take accountability for achieving the New Build bookings targets and achieving sustainable year on year growth. The role will also be tasked with developing and implementing our sales strategies to provide steam turbine solutions for our customers and grow our business in existing and new market sectors.

What will you do…

 

  • Drive and uphold the highest standards of safety and well-being within the team, the wider business and with our customers.
  • Responsible for achieving the bookings targets at the required margins and timing.
  • To understand customer’s requirements and support the development of future business opportunities and strategic relationships. Where appropriate propose and manage key strategic partnerships with suppliers and business partners to improve performance.
  • Structured planning and reporting of the sales pipeline with realistic forecasts. This includes ensuring our CRM tool is kept up to date with the latest information.
  • Support the S&OP reviews and provide suitable inputs to this process
  • Leading the preparation of tenders that secure new contracts in accordance with company policies and procedures for governance.
  • Ensuring that both contractual and non-contractual commitments towards customers and other stakeholders are achievable and that their expectations are managed appropriately.
  • Review customer specifications which may include chairing specification review meetings with the wider engineering team. This could also include representing the business at bid clarification meetings on both technical and commercial matters.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for the development of our products and services.
  • In identifying new markets and applications for Howden Turbo steam turbines the role will also define the route to market and importantly identify the market entry requirements.
  • Represent the business at exhibitions and events.
  • Work with SCM both internally and throughout the Howden regional network to find and evaluate potential new sub vendors that align with our product offering and add value to our solution
  • Travel to customers meetings, conferences and exhibitions globally is expected. You may be required to travel to other Group facilities to support Howden / Chart Regional networks globally with all activities relating to organic business growth of the Howden Turbo (Peter Brotherhood) steam turbine product.

 

What do you bring…

 

An ideal candidate would likely have the following experience…

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or able to showcase relevant professional experience in an engineering environment.
  • Recognised sales training qualifications (Miller Heiman preferred).
  • Proven international experience working for an OEM supplying similar rotating equipment products and services.
  • Proven and credible technical and commercial sales experience providing bespoke and complex engineering solutions to customers.
  • Highly experienced selling to high standards of safety and quality.
  • Relevant industry experience in oil and gas (onshore and offshore).
  • Expert experience and knowledge of sales management tools, practices and methodology 
  • Ability to understand true customer and market needs and develop a strategy to differentiate products and services.
  • The ability to sell concept solutions and innovative ideas to prospective customers.
  • Stays abreast of business, industry, and market information that may reveal business opportunities.
  • The ability to gain others’ support for ideas, proposals, projects, and solutions, addressing concerns and looking for win-win solutions.
  • Fluent in English, multi-lingual would be an added benefit but not essential.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel, CRM Tools and Outlook.
