The Role

 

 

The main purpose of the Tendering Engineer role will be as follows;

 

  • Drive customer satisfaction, business growth and performance in relation to our Parts revenue stream.
  • To provide quotations and secure orders from our customers for our OEM replacement parts for Steam Turbines, Reciprocating Compressors and Gearboxes.
  • To ensure we remain highly responsive to customer enquiries and requests for quotation with a hands-on approach to winning orders and working with other team members

What will you do?

 

 

Identify customer solutions

 

  • Assess the enquiry and identify the full scope of supply.
  • To manage contract conditions and financial requirements within delegated level of authority.
  • Issue enquiries to suppliers for proprietary equipment and evaluate resultant supplier quotations for inclusion in our quotations to our customers.
  • Prepare quotations and cost make-ups for the complete scope of supply in-house manufactured and bought-out equipment and / or services.

 


Growing the business

 

  • Actively seek opportunities to offer additional products and services that will add value to the customer.
  • To be a problem solver, and not afraid to use new ideas / initiatives and challenge our processes.
  • Continually update personal knowledge of relevant new technologies, legal, safety, contractual and export compliance regulations.
  • Manage and develop relationships with customers in a positive manner.
  • Negotiation with customers as appropriate and within levels of delegated authority.
  • Work closely with the sales team, Agents and Partners to support them to generate new leads, respond to queries and win orders.
  • Diligence at all times in protecting the Company commercial and warranty liabilities.

 

Delivery of customer solutions

 

  • Liaise with other areas of the business to ensure we can meet customer requirements and to resolve issues that may prevent us from meeting our customers’ expectations.
  • Issue tender documentation and work as part of the team for handover to production.
  • Provide ongoing support to the Contract Engineers through and after the handover process as required.
  • Liaise with colleagues as appropriate to resolve any issues on terms and conditions and financial requirements
  • Liaise with design engineers and manufacturing areas to ensure full compliance with original design specification, customer specifications and delivery requirements.
  • Achieve individual and team KPIs for performance in relation to customer feedback, enquiry response time, volume of sales, margin growth and quote to order conversion rate.
  • Fully support the processes for revenue recognition and cash collection.
  • Ensure all requirements for export and legal compliance are understood and followed.
  • Ensure CRM data is kept up to date with the latest information.

 

 

What do you bring?

 

An ideal candidate would likely have the following profile; 

 

  • Previous experience in mechanical or electrical engineering with estimating experience of bespoke engineered products and services is considered as highly relevant.
  • Minimum HNC in an Engineering subject or equivalent qualification / experience.
  • Good technical knowledge of similar products and the processes to manufacture them.
  • An excellent ability to manage workload is important as balancing customer demands and managing day-to-day priorities within team are key activities
  • Good knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and written skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen and taking balanced commercial risks where appropriate.
  • Excellent negotiator.
