We are seeking a Principal Engineer to undertake specialist design and analysis on both rotating machines and static components. In this key role, you will support the Chart product portfolio and engineering teams worldwide, collaborating across disciplines to deliver innovative solutions. You will focus on product development, contract delivery, and problem-solving, using your expertise to optimise mechanical design and analysis processes. What You Will Do...

As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for:

 

  • Product Development & Problem Solving: Carry out development work, fulfill contract requirements, and investigate mechanical design or material-related problems to provide solutions for Business Units or Project Teams.
  • Optimizing Products: Develop and refine products to support strategic development projects, ensuring that solutions meet the required standards.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Use a methodical approach and complex problem-solving tools to identify root causes and prevent the recurrence of technical problems.
  • Component Assessments: Conduct strength assessments and fitness-for-service evaluations of components, ensuring their reliability and safety.
  • Collaborative Delivery: Work closely with engineers and project managers to deliver complete solutions on time and within budget.
  • Team Support & Mentorship: Share your expertise with less experienced engineers and support colleagues across the business with technical inquiries.

What Do You Bring...

  • Qualifications: A Master's Degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification is essential, along with 10+ years of experience in non-standard engineering design and analysis.
  • Technical Expertise: Advanced experience in mechanical design and analysis of rotating machinery and proficiency with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software for complex analysis tasks.
  • Problem-Solving Aptitude: Strong ability to investigate failures, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
  • Methodical Approach: A structured and methodical approach to problem-solving, with an ability to balance detail and timely delivery.
  • Material Science Knowledge: Competence in materials science and a sound understanding of the products and applications that Chart serves.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical subjects clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
