Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Assistant Controller, is a key member of the Finance organization and is responsible for driving technical accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls, process improvements/simplification and operational excellence to support our achievement of accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis.  The Assistant Controller will have significant relevant experience with all areas of financial accounting and controls in addition to relationship management within finance, sales, supply chain, operations, and the other business units.

 

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Partner with Corporate Controller to lead the accounting control function and optimize financial results.
  • Support technical accounting research related to current and new accounting pronouncements (SEC, FASB, and EITF) and company policies, (including, revenue recognition, business combinations), share-based compensation) and documentation of Chart accounting positions.
  • Lead and support M&A related accounting, disclosure and audit requirements and integration of acquisitions.
    • Work on current and potential acquisitions regarding purchase accounting, and integration of target’s accounting staff, processes, systems, and controls and
    • Play an integral role in future M&A activity.
  • Coordinate GL accounting, financial reporting, technical accounting, internal controls, and audit.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to operations for financial transactions and processes.
  • Partner with Finance and other teams, including, HR, Treasury, Tax and Chart Business Services, on operational reviews to identify issues and provide accounting guidance.
  • Support financial accounting to ensure financial data is accurate and timely and provide hands-on support for corporate month-end close process and consolidations for all legal entities.
    • Key contact for worldwide accounting and finance organization to oversee and coordinate month-end close process.
    • Challenge and improve processes for month-end close and consolidation of intercompany activities.
  • Drive consistent, documented accounting policies and procedures along with accounting policy simplification and harmonization and other update activities across Chart.
  • Support development and update of internal controls process maps, risk assessments and control matrix and improving control framework for financial reporting purposes.
  • Support achievement of all reporting and compliance requirements and develop/implement an effective internal control program.
  • Partner with Chart internal and external auditors in support of the audit activities and resolution of complex technical accounting matters.
  • Accounting ownership of certain legal entity ledgers and corporate balance sheet accounts.
  • Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for the function, coordinate activities and manage direct and indirect reports to achieve the goals and initiatives needed to ensure success.
  • Proficient influencer and effectively communicate complex messages or difficult/sensitive information.  Collaborates and works to build consensus.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of Chart and expertise in job discipline.  Serve as best practice resource and is aware of latest developments and practices in own area.
  • Support agile decision-making in a dynamic business environment.

Your Education Should Be…

Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited college or university, preferably in accounting; MBA preferred but not required. Current CPA required.

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

Qualifications:

At least 10 years of diverse accounting experience at a fast-paced, growing, complex, global company. Big 4 public accounting experience preferred. Strong ERP working knowledge.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience managing external audit processes, monthly close and reporting cycle, reporting, compliance, development, and implementation of an internal controls program.
  • Experience working in a publicly traded company preferred.
  • Private equity and debt markets experience a plus.
  • Experience leading a global function, with understanding of the local financial requirements and    building a global accounting community.
  • Acquisition integration.
