Chart’s Theodore, AL location is currently seeking candidates interested in the position of Machine Operator.  Chart’s Machine Operator plays a key role in the manufacturing process of Chart’s products with the operation and setup of CNC machinery.

What Will You Do?

• Operation of CNC plasma machine for cutting piece parts and steel plate
• Set up machines for each operation
• Position safety operation
• Inspect and perform minor maintenance on all assigned machines
• Maintain assigned shop equipment and hand tools
• Maintain required production records
• Maintain appropriate levels of immediate on-hand inventory and reorder when appropriate with the Warehouse/Sourcing teams
• Observe and practice safety procedures and policies
• Maintain a neat and orderly workstation with equipment in a safe operating condition
• Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
• Integration with Quality to receive and assist in performing acceptance verification
• Alignment with Engineering for nuisances associated with new designs
• Initiation of Engineering Change Requests (ECR) when issues are identified with the accuracy of drawings
• Initial rolling of both inners/outers, as needed to supplement manpower
• Prepare for tack and seam welding

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

• Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and occasional crawling.
• Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., occasional heavier lifting.
• Frequent pushing, pulling and handling of materials.
• Frequent carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to metal cutting and welding odors.
• May involve exposure to temperature extremes.
• Exposure to overhead objects.
• Exposure to occasional flying debris.
• Required use of safety glasses with side shields, ANSI approved steel-toed safety shoes, welding helmets, and hard hats, (in designated areas).
• Exposure to chemical cleaning solutions and their odors.

Your Experience Should Be...

• Computer skills involving Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Machitech Pronest
• Previous machine/equipment operation.
• Familiarity with the use of hand tools.
• Familiarity of measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, tape measures.

Your Education Should Be…

• High School diploma or GED
