Chart’s Theodore, AL location is currently seeking candidates interested in the position of Machine Operator.  Chart’s Machine Operator plays a key role in the manufacturing process of Chart’s products with the operation and setup of CNC machinery.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Operates CNC plasma table for cutting piece parts and steel plate.
  • Verifies conformance of machined work to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and fixed or telescoping gauges.
  • Reads and interprets machining instructions, job orders, and blueprints to determine dimensional specifications, sequences of operations, setups, and tooling requirements.
  • Selects and sets cutting speeds, feed rates, depths of cuts, and cutting tools according to machining instructions or knowledge of metal properties.
  • Inspects and perform minor maintenance on all assigned machines.
  • Maintains shop equipment, hand tools and production records.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of immediate on-hand inventory and reorder when appropriate
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
  • May perform Initial rolling of both inners/outers, as needed to supplement manpower. And prepare for tack and seam welding.
  • Overtime, weekend hours and split shifts as needed.

Your Education Should Be…

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience/training.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

  • Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and occasional crawling.
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., occasional heavier lifting.
  • Frequent pushing, pulling and handling of materials.
  • Frequent carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to metal cutting and welding odors.
  • May involve exposure to temperature extremes.
  • Exposure to overhead objects.
  • Exposure to occasional flying debris.
  • Required use of safety glasses with side shields, ANSI approved steel-toed safety shoes, welding helmets, and hard hats, (in designated areas).
  • Exposure to chemical cleaning solutions and their odors.

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • Computer skills involving Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Experience using CNC software, preferably Machitech Pronest
  • Previous experience with machine/equipment operation.
  • Familiarity with the use of hand tools.
  • Familiarity of measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, tape measures.
