Ensuring Chart’s Success…

The Manufacturing Engineer will support the Engineer to Order (ETO) products built in Chart's new Teddy 2 facility, located in Theodore, AL.  The candidate selected will leverage his/her extensive knowledge of manufacturing and welding processes to increase plant efficiencies and site goals while focusing on safety, quality, and production.  This role requires the candidate be onsite full time.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Plan, organize and implement systems and procedures that will enhance manufacturing production.
  • Conduct cause and effect studies and implement corrective measures.
  • Assess production processes to improve product consistency, standardize work procedures, flow, etc. 
  • Implement Lean concepts throughout the plant including 5S, Visual Work, Kanban, etc.
  • Create and manage technical training programs for production employees.
  • Ensure all aspects of new product introduction and changes to existing products are properly communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Interface with various departments in coordinating technical information relating to specific projects.
  • Project Management of capital equipment projects:  identify equipment improvements, ensure on time delivery and within budget.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Your Education Should Be…

  • BS degree in Engineering, preferably Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

  • This position will require the ability to move around the production floor to investigate issues with the production equipment or manufactured and purchased parts.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, other related tasks in an office setting.

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • A minimum of 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering role.
  • Your engineering experience must include working with welding and fabrication processes.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, AutoCad, ProE.  Prefer experience in Inventor or Solidworks.
  • Understanding of factory metrics and Lean (Operational Excellence) at a minimum with Six Sigma experience a plus.
