Ensuring Chart’s Success…

The Safety Coordinator will aide Chart's Theodore, Alabama facility in ensuring the health and safety of all team members, contractors, and visitors to the site. This is a "hands on" position which will spend the majority of the time on the shop floor engaging with employees and working to build a strong safety culture. 

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Champion the sites general safety policy and procedures.
  • Engage with shop staff to help identify and remove obstacles that could potentially lead to unsafe work practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and safety
  • May help gather data for a variety of reports, such as regulatory, such as storm water pollution prevention program and permitting, toxic release inventory (TIR), etc.
  • Identify safety risks using knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Participate in audits, inspections and incident investigations, as needed.
  • Conduct new hire safety orientation and forklift certification.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Your Education Should Be…

  • High school diploma or GED, required.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

  • Lift up to 15-30 pounds
  • Movement around a manufacturing setting
  • Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, other related tasks in an office setting.

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a role requiring familiarity of standard safety protocols.
  • Ability to champion, engage and influence others in being dedicated to work-place safety.
  • Prefer some experience identifying work-place hazards (machine guard audits, JSA / JHA, etc.)
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and robotics equipment, as well as welding practices and techniques is highly desirable.
