Chart Industries is seeking an Engineering manager to continue the growth and improvement of the engineering and design team of a dynamic business unit. The Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers (ACHES) business is of critical importance for Chart, where we are a market leader with $200MM+ in annual revenue.

ACHES is a collection of various legacy brands, each with strong market presence. To be successful in the role of Engineering Manager, you will need to strategically lead the department to continue integration into a unified engineering and design team with consistent and robust processes and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional leadership and communication skills, years of management experience identifying and navigating organizational changes, and a belief in developing talents of others.

This role primarily focuses on the design and manufacturing of air-cooled heat exchangers for the oil, gas, and energy industries. As such, experience with air cooler designs, industry standards, and their manufacturing processes is a plus, but candidates in similar product lines with strong people management and execution skills will be considered.

 

Location: Beasley, Tx or Tulsa, Oklahoma 

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

• Strategically organize global design and engineering team to maximize support of sales and manufacturing efforts.

• Make determinations for equipment, staff, and training needs.

• Oversee the daily workflow of the department and regularly report key performance indicators, including on-time delivery, time to release efficiency, non-conformance, and staff utilization.

• Lead and coordinate engineering and design functions to support production of high value and critical to customer products.

• Review existing, and generate new, work process and procedures to ensure technical accuracy, specification compliance, and on time delivery of fabrication drawings and BOMs.

• Support communication between project management, manufacturing, and customers to ensure project requirements and timelines are clearly understood and met.

• Coordinate with other managers and staff, working closely with manufacturing, finance, human resources (HR), and information technology (IT) leaders.

• Maintain knowledge of key industry (e.g. API-661) and customer specifications to ensure products conform to project requirements.

• Troubleshoot design flaws and provide field support as needed.

• Regular travel between Tulsa, OK and Beasley, TX to support multiple engineering and manufacturing sites (monthly preferred).

Your Education Should Be…

• BS in a physical engineering discipline (MSME in Mechanical Engineering is a plus).

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

This job is primarily in an indoor office environment. Regular exposure to loud/noisy outdoor and manufacturing shop environments is expected.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.

The following personal protective equipment (PPE) are strictly required while working in the manufacturing shop:

• Safety Glasses

• Steel Toe Shoes

• Ear Plugs

• Gloves (when needed)

• Face Shield (when needed)

• Tyvek Coveralls (optional)

• Sports Belt (optional)

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

 

• 10+ years in air cooler engineering, or similarly engineered and manufactured products for oil, gas, and energy industries.

• Fundamental understanding and knowledge of structural design, materials, metallurgy, and manufacturing/welding processes is strongly desired.

• Strong supervisory, leadership and communication skills for overseeing staff and working with other management personnel. Able to effectively communicate instructions while leading the team to meet their goals.

• Strong organizational skills for keeping track of budgets and schedules.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of tools (or equivalent) for managing, analyzing, and reporting schedules and key performance indicators.

• Thorough and fundamental understanding of ERP/MRP systems. JDE experience is a plus.

• Confident in ability to affect organizational changes and provide thoughtful and strategic feedback to leadership teams.
