Ensuring Chart’s Success…

Chart's quality group is crucial to building our products on time and of the highest quality to our customers.  The Quality Control Tech II is responsible for validate NDT instructions and procedures.  They are also responsible for interpret and evaluate test results according to applicable standards, codes and specifications.  The Quality Control Tech III will work with the Quality Manager to maintain compliance ASME requirements.   


What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Review all mill certificates for material compliance with the job requirements, and ASME Code requirements.
  • Observe at suitable intervals: joint preparation, welding technique, and post-weld dressing to make certain that the applicable requirements of the WPS and applicable codes are met.
  • Inspect structural welding work to ensure compliance with AWS D1.1, and the job requirements.
  • Perform inspection of incoming materials as required, to ensure compliance with the purchase order and the job requirements.
  • Inspect header-box welding to ensure compliance with ASME Section VIII, IX and API 661
  • Perform internal and external visual inspection and dimensional inspection of Header-boxes.
  • Perform and interpret NDE (MT / PT / RT) as required, to the applicable ASNT standards and the company’s written practice.
  • Witness and inspect hydrostatic pressure tests.
  • Coordinate activities with department lead and the Authorized Inspector.
  • Conduct cooler performance tests using standard inspection equipment (e.g. amp meter, vibration meter, and anemometer).
  • Inspect completed equipment to ensure compliance with the shop drawings, job requirements, and company standards.
  • Document all performed tests and inspections, as required.
  • Write Inspection Reports and initiate Non-Conformance reports as needed
  • Report deficiencies to supervisor.
  • Assists in performing Quality Audits
  • Adhere strictly to all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • Full working knowledge of Quality Control Systems.
  • Min. 5 yrs. Quality Control background or 10 yrs. of related experience.
  • ASNT TC-1A certified level II MT, PT & RT.
  • Practical knowledge of NACE MR-0175 & RP-0472.
  • Working Knowledge of common SSPC standards.
  • Interpret shop drawings and other technical documents.
  • Fabrication & manufacturing methods & processes.
  • Practical & Theoretical knowledge of welding processes.
  • Material designations per ASTM & ASME.
  • Good working knowledge of ASME Section VIII.
  • Good working knowledge of API-661.
  • Good working knowledge of AWS D1.1.
  • Working Knowledge of common SSPC standards.
  • Good working knowledge of standard PC workstation usage.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand, information and ideas presented verbally.
  • Follow written and/or oral instructions.

 

Your Education Should Be…

  • Possession of a High School diploma or G.E.D. and two years of industry related work experience.
  • Valid driver license to drive a motor vehicle.
  • Able to pass a Visual Acuity Test using a Jaeger Type No. 2 Standard Eye Chart.
  • Certification - ASNT Level II - MT / PT / RT
