The Safety Technician will apply advanced knowledge in maintaining and improving the safety programs. Improves overall workforce safety awareness to include planning, implementing, and coordinating programs to reduce or eliminate the following: occupational injuries and illnesses, violations of federal and state safety regulations; abuse of the workers compensation system; and financial losses from above. Develops, coordinates and provides training regarding safety procedures and compliance issues to improve overall safety awareness
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
Monitor the company's safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulations. Inspects machines and equipment for accident prevention devices.
Assist with testing and servicing safety equipment and systems.
Observe workers and evaluates job activities to determine use of required safety equipment such as glasses, helmets, goggles, respirators, clothing, harnesses, footwear and other equipment.
Inspect specified areas for job hazards, fire prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies. Prepare report of findings with recommendations for corrective action.
Investigate causes of accidents to identify preventive safety measures for incorporation into the safety program.
Document and investigate near misses and incidents.
Demonstrate use of safety equipment.
Lead or participate in morning safety meeting and pre-job contractor safety meetings
Conduct safety moments before meetings
Facilitate visitor orientation
Lead or participate in safety committee meetings
Transport injured employees to the occupational medicine clinic or hospital
Must be flexible with work hours – some weekends may be required
Your Education Should Be…
Associates degree in Environmental, Safety, & Health or equivalent field or;
Vocational/Technical training or certification

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus; ability to distinguish color helpful but not required. Must be able to work a minimum than eight hours per day and five days per week. Must be able to work in non-temperature-controlled environment.
Your Professional Experience Should Be…
2+ years experience in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge local, state and federal regulations
Ability to professionally interact with all employees, customers, vendors and visitors
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
