Position Summary: Ensure operations comply with the highest standards of workplace environmental, health and safety regulations and stewardship.  Additionally, oversee the maintenance of facilities and equipment, ensuring operational efficiency and longevity.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

  • Develop and implement comprehensive EHS policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Create work instructions for each of the positions. Develop safe operating procedures which identify and take account all relevant hazards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) to identify potential environmental and safety hazards.
  • Coordinate and lead emergency response drills and real-life situations, ensuring all staff are trained in safety procedures and crisis management.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of facility and equipment maintenance, including scheduling regular inspections, servicing, and repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in safety and environmental practices, facility management, and equipment performance.
  • Prepare and manage the EHS budget, including maintenance costs, to ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Serve as the primary contact for regulatory body audits and inspections, ensuring all practices are compliant and documentation is up to date.
  • Facilitate training sessions for all employees on relevant safety, environmental, and maintenance protocols.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators and metrics related to EHS and maintenance objectives.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to determine causes and implement preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.
  • Participate in reviews and assessment of risk management policies and protocols; make recommendations and implements modifications and improvements. Implement Corporate driven Environmental, Health and Safety strategies, programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct facility audits to ensure Policies and Procedures are being properly followed.
  • Manage hazardous substances and the disposal of waste materials, products, etc. 
  • Assist with waste minimization programs and strategies.
  • Communicate safety policy, practice and procedures throughout the company.
  • Stay up to date with current HSE regulations and industry best practices and proactively propose necessary changes to policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and training sessions and prepare reports as required.
  • Diagnose problems, repairs or replaces parts, tests equipment, and makes adjustments. Manage equipment and supply needs, and coordinates ordering, scheduling deliveries, and installation.
  • Complete and file monthly data in our safety management system
  • Champion the safety-first culture by leading and engaging in safety improvement initiatives. 
  • Lead and manage all safety training programs.
  • Facilitate monthly Safety Committee meetings.
  • Ensure completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting
     

Your Education Should Be…

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an EHS role within the manufacturing industry, with proven facility and equipment maintenance responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and OSHA standards.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to train and motivate staff in EHS practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be detail-oriented and recognize importance of accuracy and timeliness in completing tasks.
  • Ability to handle confidentiality in handling employee information and records.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within standard accepted practices.
  • OSHA standards, NFPA requirements, NRS and NAC codes and requirements.
  • Authorized OSHA 500/510
  • Fundamental knowledge of presentation techniques including the use of audio/visual projection equipment during training courses, and how to deliver effective training.
  • Experience operating computers, software and other electronic devices relative to training.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Power Point
  • Experienced with Alchemy or other learning-based management programs.
  • Can read and write in both English and Spanish
